It's not what , it's how
Hellooooo

was just sitting here wondering if you guys film continuous or use the remote controls on your cameras to turn it on and off at various points in your day or you just go out and film specifically for a subject ??

i tend to continually record hoping something goes on lol ...but am thinking maybe use the remote more

let us know your secrets lol

I have mine running as long as I'm riding. I just edit out or discard anything that isn't interesting.

Mine runs all the time. If you wait until something cool happens before you start rolling, you'll often miss the action.

It depends on your vlog style.

I don't do the "grrr I'm always angry, look at these cars getting close to me" style vlogs so I only record when I am in a beautiful place or have something specific to say.

If I'm filming, it's always on.
It's mainly for my own "safety" - vlogging is just a side effect.

When it comes to creating the actual video, I just edit the guff out.

Im running 2 cameras atm I run my helmet continuously and I run my other just when Im vloging. i ride all year everyday so i see quite a few strange things

it seems like a lot of us film continuously so how do you power your gear ( a second question i know) as in my 170 mile daily jaunt i change the batteries on my go pro 4 times which is a pain lol

Recording everything seems to make more sense to me. I think being a rather vulnerable road user, it's vital that you have a way of protecting yourself on the road... I love the idea of having a first person eye witness if I have an accident for whatever reason. But obviously the flip side of that, is if you're doing something stupid and cause an accident, you incriminate yourself!

I started recording after a crash where we settled 50/50 even though it was his fault mainly (he made up some witnesses) and sort of progressed into talking rubbish ..

All the time as a witness when a cager blames the "irresponsible speeding biker". Picked up most of my Randoms content because it is always on.

I swap batteries on the go. On my Ghost HD I'd get over 3 hours on a battery, the Ghost S is about 2.5 hours. Not often I ride that long really, but on longer journeys I tend to get off every couple of hours to make sure I don't cramp up. At motorways speeds I can hit reserve in 3 hours anyway (about 180 miles), but since hitting the reserve once at 163 miles (I was pushing on just a little bit in to headwind) and rather than getting some coughing it just cut out, I will refuel every 150 miles if riding above 68mph ;)

The main thing I seem to hear about GoPro is the battery life. @SwissMotard has a battery pack that I think is attached to his helmet with dual-lock. You can get Anker battery packs and run the USB lead down to your jacket pocket too. Probably a better idea when it's cold as batteries perform better when ambient.

If I'm riding locally then it's always running. If I'm on a long, mulit-day trip, then I have it on Tag mode so I don't have to wade through hours of footage just to find the good bits, but I don't miss the good bits.
On a couple of occasions I've gone our riding and forgotten my camera. I feel naked and am convinced I'm going to see the most amazing situation ever, and not have any footage of it.
