It Shouldnt Be Difficult ?final Cut

Mr fish

It's not what , it's how
I've just spent ages editing a vid on Final Cut Pro (first time I've used it) can't seem to upload or save the movie anywhere it's just sitting staring at me teasing me in all its movieness smugness :-( any ideas ?

It's under share from the menu, or the little "forward" arrow on the right hand side under the inspector window.

Once in choose Quicktime movie or "Computer", and in the box that pops up take the time to look in the "settings" tab, you want H.264 and AAC set. Also check the res and fps are correct.

Just holler if you need help, and I'll grab my Mac. What version you on?

I'll look in to it tomorrow I've saved to my desktop but won't open for some reason (maybe still uploading) gives me the options under share but tells me my you tube is not connected (even though I lodded it in) so want to save to desktop the upload via the YouTube page if possible

I couldn't get the YT bit to work either :)

You on 10.0.x or 10.1.x? It can take time to share (export) if it hasn't finished rendering. I also found (maybe) it exports quicker if you export to a drive that the OS isn't on such as an external. May be that it seems it rather than gospel fact though.

On the export to file though it will tell you the size as well. ProRes files can be 10x the size of H.264 QT/computer movies, no idea if they save quicker with less encoding though.

You didn't get Compressor by chance along with FCPX, did 'ya  ???

Anyways, if you have 10.1.x, give this a try...
1. Go to "File -> Share -> Add Destination...".
2. In the pop-up window that shows, click on "YouTube".
3. Make sure all of the settings are correct (1920x1080 or 1080x720/Better Quality/Private/etc.).
4. Click on the "Details" button in the upper-left corner.
5. Enter the login and pass you use for your YouTube account... the login is the primary email address you use to login to the YouTube/Google webpage and NOT your user name.
6. Close pop-up window.
7. Go to "File -> Share -> YouTube..."
8. Now try uploading and see if it works ;) . I had the same problem in the beginning and the solution was not always the clearest :p .....

Best of luck ^_^ !

If your FCPX is "borrowed" it may not work going by other things I've read.

i tend to make my vids and upload later anyway, plus I keep a copy on file rather than rely on YT having the only finished copy.

It depends where you borrow it from ;) .....

Seem to be uploading :) sent it to iTunes library in the settings bit so fingers crossed
There should also be a "export file" options... you can put your settings in there I believe and then upload the file to YouTube manually :o . Ah well, whatever works works ;) ... glad you were able to get it to do something :) !
