I Want Another Cam....

Well I don't like the Virbs picture, I also don't like the Rollei's picture much either.
The Drift Ghost HD costs more than 300€... that's kinda to much for me.
How much does the Sony HDR-AS30V actually cost? I found prices from 170€ to 270€... 170€ would be acceptable, 270€ to much.

I still really like the C3, even if it comes from China... So what, they're just cheaper.

I bought both of mine on eBay, but from the official Saturn ebay accounts (every store has one). One was €110, the other was €139. Both with full 'Hersteller Gewährleistung' (I know that you know what that is ;)

Totally on the action cam bandwagon here! But, on a helmet mounted cam you'd better keep the image stabilization off. Nothing looks more odd than the helmet moving about on the screen as the camera is moving the picture around to smooth movement.

Also, if you have the coin, there is a 4k one coming out soon! I am on the fence myself... I have a AS15 and AS100 myself. 3rd camera? Why not... I still need a rearward facing one! LOL

I was out for a mega 10 hour ride with a mate on Friday. It was a really good day and took n some nice roads and nice places to stop off. I got chatting to a you lad at the whistle stop in Whitby, ha had a Sony cam, I think he said the AS10 but I'll check when I review the video. He showed me some of the video he had and it looked decent enough.

The drift failed to record for the first two hours and I'd tried with two different batteries. It did however, record fine as long as I set it recording and then connected an external battery pack. Not sure what's up with that.

Check Calmbiker's channel, he had a similar sounding problem it went back to Drift for, forgotten myself what it was.

I've finally moved completely away from drift. Sold the warranty replacement ghost on eBay yesterday. I'm 100% sony now. The brand new ghost froze 4 times on my first ride with it. Had to pull the battery each time. It's not good enough.

I got enough money to cover the cost of both my AS30's though!! Every cloud!

I have used a few Gopro bits so my camera is low and forward. No Helmet in view!

Id love to get the 4k camera. If just to be at the bleeding edge for once! But no cash sadly!

Same here, I am waiting for a raw 4K clip to surface on the internet. I want to see if my current software will edit it. I think I am good hardware wise, but my Vegas 10 Pro software is more than half a decade old. I am surprised it has held up so long!

My decrepit Premiere Pro 5 was struggling with my first edit with 60fps today. So I'll have to pave a new road before I can drive the 4k wagon down it!

So I bought the Contour Roam 2 the other day, but I'm not satisfied...
Keep in mind that cam cost me nearly three times as much as my Mobius, and the only thing I find remarkably better is the battery life... And maybe the acoustic signals, I can see that those might become handy.
The Roam is heavier.
Its harder to mount that big thing to my helmet, I can't find any mounting angle which gets me the same nice look I got from my Mobius.
1080p only records in 120°, not in 170°! 170° is only possible with some weird 900-something-p, and than the video quality isnt very good.
The video quality in general isnt that good, thinking about the price... I feel like my Mobius has a better picture.
The Roam also just takes up to 32GB... Would have expected a bit more.
Setting teh camera up, and getting it to work with a microSD card was a HUGE pain in the ***!

Well, 24 hours since I bought it, and already Im thinking of returning it.

I'll defiently return the Roam. The picture is simply... disappointing. Blury, not very sharp, not focused in full HD. And in 720p it's just... not nice to look at.
Also I think it speaks for itself that Im deinstalling 5 softwares right now... All just installed in order to run the cam.

The Mobius picture is better, its way easier to set it up and the usage isn't that much complex. I'll admit the contour has some nice features, but I still think my 50€ China cam is better. Even thought I have to use a power bank just to keep it running. So what, Panasonic (HX-Series) and others now make action cams based on a two part system, using the mobius wit a power bank feels similar.

If there would be any way to get my hands on a Panasonic HX-A100 or HTC RE, I would love to try those out. But I would have to buy it online, might aswell buy another china cam, works fine for me...

Which one? Retailers only have the expensive one... Thinking about the HDR-AS30V, but I would have to order it. I just dont like ordering stuff...
ebay's your friend ;) . That's where I get my Action Cams from  - buy used and buy cheap :p ;) :...

...it really depends on what kind of quality you would like  . I just received a used AS100 in the mail today from ebay, but I've been using an AS10 ever since the beginning :p . @MrCods seems to like the AS30... personally, I think with any Sony Action Cam you get, you can't go wrong :) . Sure, the above with ebay has to do with ordering, but sometimes the price can't be beat  ... and patience pays off in time, sometimes :p .

Hope this helps a little bit ^_^ .

I actually have been using the AS15 but bought the AS30 cause I couldnt pass up the price of $150aud :)

Oh :o ? Hah :) !

I should have gone with the 30 in my most recent purchase, but I figured if I was going to buy something, I wasn't going to buy it twice ;) . The 100 seems like it's more than I need really :o ~.....
