I Want Another Cam....

I have the Mobius ActionCam.
But I want another one... One having the same advantages, but without the disadvantages.

So what I like about the Mobius:
The light weight
The small size
The video quality

What I really don't like:
Battery life (about 60-90min.)

What I also don't like:
No Option to record Audio
Visuals for showing its recording aren't easily visible while riding (would be enough to see it throught the mirror)

Whats would be awesome:
If I could use the same mounting techniqe (the mobius gets mounted via I think 8mm shoulder bolt (is that the right word?).

Uhm, yes... So something similar but slighly improved. Anybody knows what could be right for me???

The Innovv C3 I kinda like the mobius, with some more vlogger friendly features. I think it's based off the mobius.

I can't post links, so google is your friend. Techmoan did a review of it too.

I'm getting increasingly frustrated over with my Drift Ghost, I'm finding I can't recommend them anymore but it's the only cam I've used for vlogging. I'm actually thinking of trying cheaper cams and I also use Techmoan as a reference.

Wow, looks like it's made for motovlogging... Is my own mic useless now?
I liked Techmoans Samples, quality wise. Good picture, similar to the Mobius'. I guess if I boght the wide angle version (I have the wide angle version of the mobius) it could fit pretty good together. But the YouTube quality in Techmoans video sucked... Well, not the cameras fault, I guess.
Also the accessories look pretty nice.

Shit, I'm thinking I might just take that one. I wanted to look into the Ghost, but after Abomin81on's post...

I know it's not just me who's experiencing issues with the drift ghost. It's not a firmware issue (although I'm pretty sure ifbtheybwork on it hey could sort the issues out), I'm getting audio issues, camera randomly freezing so not recording when it should be. I'm not sure if it's temperature related but it means it gets too warm in summer and too cold in winter. Fantastic stuff. I have mine in the girlfriends car for now as a dashcam but here are less expensive solutions for this which work better too.

It's such a shame because I really like the shape and the remote etc. and I 1080/30 is the best quality I need to record at so it would be ideal without the issues.

2 Drift HD Ghosts here - 2 years of use and almost no issues. Compared to some friends who have GoPro's I definitely think I got lucky with the drifts.
But then all cameras are liable to be a "dud" - it IS actually a matter of luck.
In the long run you do get what you pay for though - cheap gear will generally show you why it is cheap before too long...
Also avoid the latest and greatest releases... wait 6 months to a year and the price will drop to half and they will have ironed out the bugs that they should have ironed out before releasing ;)

Alright, thanks for the input :)

I will compare these cameras (judging by size, weight, picture, battery life, price...), and then choose one:
Drift HD Ghost
INNOVV C3
Rollei Bullet HD
Sony HDR-AS30V

By the way, the Garmin Virb (not elite) really isnt good. Is it just me who thinks this looks more like an iphone recording than that of a quality action cam???

Well @O8ride has the Virb for an opinion. The Rollei stuff is meant to be distinctly average, but for me it'd be the Drift followed by the Sony. Can't confess to knowing much about the C3, but it's Mobius derived (so I heard), and the Sony is better than the Mobius...

Well I don't like the Virbs picture, I also don't like the Rollei's picture much either.
The Drift Ghost HD costs more than 300€... that's kinda to much for me.
How much does the Sony HDR-AS30V actually cost? I found prices from 170€ to 270€... 170€ would be acceptable, 270€ to much.

I still really like the C3, even if it comes from China... So what, they're just cheaper.

I added GoPro Hero, Panasonic HX-A100 and Sony HDR-AS100V to my list.
Drift is to expensive, Garmin and Rollei have crappy pictures.

Now it's all about size, weight and battery life. And price.

Hm, did you guy know the HTC RE?

I know it is not made at all for my use (motorcycle, no... even worse: Enduro), and there is no helmet mount. But I guess I could just use the same double-sided duct tape I used for my Mobius mount and stick the clip on to my helmet...

I just like the picture, and it's not even that expensive. Also, big advantage, I can buy it at a local dealer and simply give it back if I dont like it. No waiting for a package from china, easy exchange if it doesnt fit... Thats why I like retail way more than online shopping, normally its just so damn expensive when it comes to electronics...

Anyways, doesnt hurt looking into it... Even if the cam looks stupid and hipster.

Gopro hero. Basic, cheap, versatile. Admittedly they don't have an external mic jack, but that's a small downside for the camera you get for the money.

I just had a faulty HD 1080 replaced under warranty and the kind folks at Drift gave me an HD Ghost. Which is really nice, a brand new higher spec camera in the place of my beat up old one! But I'll be selling it as soon as possible. While I was waiting I bought a Sony AS30V and aside from the funky mounting and mic jack access issues, it's better in every way. Even the wifi app is FAR superior. So good cust service aside I'm with you in an inability to recommend Drift anymore. Shame as my Drift HD was my first 'Proper' action cam. And it let me down, and let me down, and let me down....

I usa a sony hdr as15! An inexpensive camera for the awesome quality it produces. You should totally look into that one

+1 For Sony here. It's early days with my AS30V, but so far I'm blown away by it's performance. I got 2 1080/60 fps capable cameras for less than the price of a Go Pro Hero 3!

In the next week or so I'll be doing a side by side comparison video of the HD Ghost and the Sony AS30V. If I'm quick enough, it might help you a bit.
