I see GoPro have realised they are missing a trick.....

They now have a weather "resistant" battery door for the Hero 9 so you can run it on a powerbank, which also insinuates that they believe it to be able to cope with charging while recording.... and also means you can probably attach the old mic adaptor through it too to save having to buy the huge Media Mod! :-)

I saw that and had the same thoughts! I love the Media Mod though, so I already have them. For people who held out [and kept their $80 in their wallet], this is a great $10 alternative, especially if they've got a mic adapter. IIRC, the latest Hero 9 firmware enabled the interface with the Mic Adapter.

I bought myself a slim power bank, holds about 6 charges, and I've started taking that on longer trips. I'm using it with the media mod. So far so good, no issues. It's much more convenient than always having to swap batteries.

What I really want (and would pay good money for) is a Hero 9 Session.

A new line of Session cameras would be awesome, but I don't think Gopro considers them a worthy investment - even though the Session cameras hold their value in resale way better than the standard line of cameras.

A vlogging case for the Session line would be a great way for them to make som extra money.

New GoPros are also missing a 3.5mm jack and/or direct usb to 3.5mm external mic capability. Why do you have to use a big box for external audio?

Nice! Very tempted.
Out of interest, where would you run the cable and shove your big battery pack if you have a helmet-mounted camera? What works best? On the helmet, in a pocket or on the bike (direct from bike battery)?

When I was using the Hero 5 Session, I had a battery bank Velcro'd to the rear of my helmet, it meant that I had no cables attaching me to the helmet, worked well until GoPro did something that stopped the cameras working properly with that setup! :-)

Last winter when I was looking to buy my first GoPro (before I'd even created Moto Mengy) the Hero 5 Session was the camera I wanted to buy. Sadly I could not find one for sale at a decent price. My Hero 8 was actually cheaper to buy than a used Hero 5 Session at that time! Those session cameras are still in high demand even to this day due to their size, lots of off road guys covet them hard.
