How Long ?

Mr fish

It's not what , it's how
hello one and all ....I'm having a nightmare with my gopro 3 and editing (but I am useless) and I've never done it before :-) I'm trying to use imovies as an editor as when I use the go pro app it's limited ....it's seem to take ages to import for example a 13 minute clip is telling me 2 hours ...and question 2 how do I make the clip shorter before import (if possible) I can make it shorter on the go pro studio thingy but then can't seem to get it from there to imovies .....I'm probably just being a plonker but thought I would seek help before I send random files to random places :-)

Cheers

Shouldn't take more than a few moments to drop it in to iMovie, I've dropped 30 minute 1080/30 files in to iMovie before (about 3.5GB), and off I went. See what settings you can get to, I deleted iMovie so I can't remember or check what's what in it.

As for making it shorter first, GoPro studio should allow you to export to a recognised file format, just look under share or export for MP4 or MOV.

There's a whole bunch of variables which can cause issues. What imovie are you working on? How much RAM do you have available and how many applications are opened simultaneously?

Cheers for the replies ....I may just have worked it out :-) ...(with help from my daughter ) I've made a short clip with fades and writing etc and music ( which is not allowed without paying I suppose) ..... I need to work on intro and outro , name etc oh and a new YouTube channel ... But before that I may put a snippet on here to get reaction ...good or bad ....I will get there fingers crossed

On your YT channel, click on Video Manager at the top, the click on CREATE at lower left, then click on Ad-Supported Music. There's a full list of music you can search on and use in you videos. Just follow the terms and conditions.

Thanks for the advice I will look into it ...or I might make some of my own on logic

Right it's finalizing on imovies as I type this ....so can I get it on here before I set up my you tube channel ? ...for feed back etc it's only short and has a mish mash texts (experimenting) and has no voice (no mic yet) ....

The name I'm going for is
