How long does it take to upload your videos?

My videos are generally around 10-12 minutes long and process at around 1.7 to 1.9 gigs. It usually takes about 18-24 hours to upload it to Youtube. I'll set it to upload before bed and it's usually done by sometime the next evening. I live in a touristy area that does not have fibre, so our upload speed is very low. About 1.5 mb/s upload and 5mb/s for downloads. Just wondering how long it takes you guys.

Here is Aus even our best domestic internet is pretty crappy compared to the US etc.

I used to have 1.5 Mbps DOWNLOAD and 0.2 upload and it would time out - couldn't upload at all.

Now I pay nearly $100 / month for 100 Mbps download and 20 Mbps upload. I've never timed to see how long it takes but yeah, seems like ages. I do it overnight as well. Those figures of course don't take into account the crowded fibre carrying that stuff to the YT servers so in reality its much slower. (i.e. nowhere near as quick as hippodrone is achieving)

Then there's the processing time on YouTube - another forever.

2 gb upload in 24 hrs?

I think mine is done maybe within 10 minutes? Sometimes I haven't even finished filling in all the details on the YT and the upload is already done and being processed.

Same.

I generally see 30-70mb/s upload speeds, so a vid that's 10-15m long and takes up 1.1-2gb, will take 10-15m to upload to YT.

I go nuts when I only have 3-10mb/s upload speed, and start rebooting network equipment to try and get a better connection.

I'm fortunate to have cable internet here and at times can reach 100mbps download...I think upload is usually between 10 and 20ish. Most of my vids upload in less than an hour. Seems like lately Youtube has been taking they're sweet time processing the HD version though, maybe my files are getting bigger, I never look tbh

A year ago I could not upload any videos from home, my Windstream DSL was so slow that even trying to upload a motovlog would take longer than a day and it would always time out after a few hours of trying. I had to upload from either work or my brother's house!

Now I have Starlink, the SpaceX satellite internet, and I can upload a 15 minute 2.7k video in about 15 minutes or so. It's been fantastic to finally have a modern internet connection!

Depends on the speed. Currently, I've just been upgraded to the new FTTP which has 900 download / 100 upload. So it's pretty fast.

About a year ago, I was in a different place where I also had gigafast internet but I would get 900download 900 upload, imagine that.

Time-wise, I don't know, 5-10 minutes, depending on the length, quality, maybe faster, maybe slower..

Ours is HFC, some areas as FTTP, but the majority of homes here in Aus probably have FTTN with the last bit using the old copper network... (rolls eyes)

8min vlog, 2560x1440.
Upload time 26min on Saturday.
Uploaded a 6min vlog, 2560x1440 at the same time, dropped to 37min.

A 6 minedit, 4k.
Uploaded on Thursday.
Took 42 min, according to Youtube, but left the pc so no idea how realistic that was ;)

Lately my vids have been 6-8 gigs. I guess it's because Im doing a lot more walkaround with the selfie and shooting at 1080p with 60fps. I find walkaround video takes up a huge amount of data. Perhaps all the extra colors Im not sure why. These videos are taking me around 30 hours to upload using Bell Internet.

It makes me wonder how Itchy Boots does it from the back country of Botswana or Namibia. She says she buys data cards as she goes. Perhaps they upload to satelite and its much faster, I don't know, but from here in Ontario Canada, Im stuck with up to 2 days to get a video up.

That. Is. Painful. If my vids take > 30m to upload, I get frustrated... and they're usually 1.5-5gb in size.

Some hotels surely have Wifi.
But upload overnight while sleeping.

And sometimes spending 2 or 3 days at 1 spot and just upload in a bunch at the time.

But at the rate I get here in Ontario, it would take 2 days to upload 1 video. Hotel wifi is slow at best, It could take even longer using hotel wifi, if it works at all.
