How Did You Get Though The Winter.

So this is more of a question to those of you on the other half of the planet.

Were just going into the winter here and I'm not sure how to get though the winter. In the past I've made sure that I have quite a few videos in the bank to get though the shitty weather. At the moment I only have 2.

So what did you do to get you though the winter. I'm starting to think I'll just ride.

Just ride through the winter, thats what I am gonna do. Try to pick the good days you probably will still freeze ...

You gotta layer, but even that will only keep the cold out so long.

But really try layering, otherwise ride on weekends during the middle of the day when its warmer.

My layers over the winter:
Legs
UNDERWEAR
THERMAL PANTS
REGULAR PANTS
CHAPS

Torso
T-SHIRT
REGULAR SHIRT
FIELD JACKET LINER
FLEECE JACKET
LEATHER JACKET

I wear a full face or modular helmet. Snowmobile gloves help too.

I love riding in the winter!

I'm assuming you're talking about dealing with the cold? I'm sure you can get it there so you should check out Duluth Trading Co. For cold gear. They're pretty pricy but everything I've gotten from them has lasted over four years. They specialize in cold gear, based in Duluth Minnesota, where it gets pretty dang cold. As for the outer gear goes, you can't beat electric gloves. Leather jacket is a must in my opinion. I also had the Torch universal jacket heater. The coldest I've been through was this year with a chilling 7*F. With all of my gear on I lasted about 30 mins until the cold really started to set in at highway speeds.

As far as snow, rain, and ice goes that's tricky but it can be done. I was once caught in an ice storm while Christmas shopping, my entire bike including myself got covered in a thin sheet of ice on the way home. My helmet was frozen shut and it soinded like every bone in my body snapped because of all the ice when I got off lol. I actually just got done making a motovlog about riding through crappy weather. Just have to edit it.

Nope not even dealing with the cold, thermals and heated grips can take care of that.

I'm more talking about the motivation to actually get out and ride and motovlog.

My personal motivation! :D

Hahaha I totally hear you. I ride to work, but have to have a really good reason for riding on a cold weekend.

Maybe change it up and specifically travel somewhere different and new?

Think I've done most of the to-do type stuff. I really need a winter project. Might be time to look for another bike.

I commute as long as I can until the weather says otherwise. Outside of commuting there's Christmas shopping, or if it's safe, 2up rides with my wife just to see the lights and Christmas decorations of homes in our area.

Winter give me a chance to get caught up on reading. I try to find a few riding related books, or technical ones as well. There are also a lot of good documentaries and of course motovlogs to get caught up on. At the most I may be off the road for about 3 weeks. It's not long, but it doesn't take much to be chomping at the bit when the ground's not moving under ya.

If you were dead-set on vlogging, you could offer some cold-weather riding tips or show us your gear, stuff like that.

Since you're speaking on motivation, I would say you can't sit around and wait for motivation to magically appear. I find that if I just get started doing something, I usually find that I have motivation to keep doing it. Funny thing about motivation, the more you have the more you have, the less you have the less you have. It builds on itself.

You could look through the old SOLAR BEAR challenges on the forum and do them if you are struggling for topics, as well.
