Several off you all ready know this, but I thought I post it anyway. Im going be be on the forum, and making videos a lot less for a while, whilst I sort more important things out.

So, after buying a 99 Hornet two weeks ago, its now a little bit less immaculate.

On sunday after work. Approaching a roundabout, I started to ease on the brakes....and nothing, three quarters brake...nothing. Pulled as hard as I could, because engine braking wasn't slowing me enough, front locked.

I slid on my arse, watching the bike slid away, and hit the kerb of the traffic island just short of the roundabout. Now watching it flip through the air, and land on the roundabout.

So whats the damage, its a right off. The left hand side of the engine was first point of impact on the kerb, so smashed it into small pieces. In the air it went higher than an speed sign, (according to the man that saw it happen). So when it landed its broke the rear fairing into small pieces, and ruined anything on the left hand side that was still intact. Also bent the frame and the subframe.

Looking back there really nothing I could have done, before I brought it, it had been garaged for 15 months. I should have got the brakes checked, but hindsights a wonderful thing. I'd all ready done a 1000 miles in 2 weeks on it though. Maybe I could have used the rear brake and engine more, but when you brakes fail a 60mph, you tend to panic. My parents did ask me to stop riding, and get a car, but screw that.

Bikes can be replaced. People can't. Glad you're ok mate and not put off riding :) Look forward to you getting back on wheels when the time comes.

What he said.

But really, you put a bike through all that and walked away unscathed? Dude someone needs to buy you a beer! Bikes are replaceable, especially when they're properly insured. Don't look at it as losing a bike and having to find another. Look at it as having generated one of the best 'So there I was...' stories ever.

Shit, that looks bad, good to know you & your spirit are still intact. You could do a post crash gear review, help get the message out that shit happens. Hope your insurance will cover a new bike mate.

Really sorry to hear about your crash cheesecake but glad you are okay! Shame about the Hornet, that's really shit :( ...but it's replaceable and as trinth said, you have an awesome story to tell now! I read this over on the Hornets Nest yesterday but didn't realise it was you! If you decide not to get another Hornet then I'll happily buy your Micron can off you if it survived - some money towards a new bike :)

Hope you get back on two wheels soon.

I'd be more than happy to buy him one!

Can't tell you how scary it was to look at a text message on my phone that said "Just wrote my bike off".
Bet it was a lot less scary than watching it happen though!

As I've said to you before, so relieved you're alright mate. Glad it hasn't put you off two wheels.
Take your time with getting everything in order and getting a new bike. Don't worry about the stuff we had planned.

We'll see you back on the road soon :)

Oh, and since I keep forgetting to ask, did my Scala Rider survive? :?

Yes, I'll post it back to you. Can you text me your address.

And I don't want to cancel what we had planned, just don't know where I stand right now in money terms.

I'll come pick it up if you want. Saves you having to go out of your way to post it.

Ok. I'm glad mate :)
Just don't feel under pressure or anything. If you can't do it, that's fine.

Can do, or give me a few weeks and I'll either be on the GPZ or have a new Hornet and we can meet up somewhere.

I can imagine. I've had to send that kind of a message on two different occasions. I try to preface them with "I'm fine, but..." so people don't get too worried.
