I recently lost my 'offical' external microphone for my Drift HD camera. That mic was fine, but it had a very long cord, about a meter. That's just ridiculous for a helmet camera. Why Drift can't see their way to make an external mic with a reasonably short cable lenght is beyond me.
I just couldn't stand the thought of sending in twenty bucks plus shipping for a mic that would require i deal with a hairball of wire.
I decided to make my own cable. This cable is about 18 inches long, cost less than ten dollars, and works fine at up to about 50mph in my new (and noisy) Scorpion R410 helmet.

I have some ideas for a version 2 that may include simple electronic attenuation.
