Okay, for the last 2 or so years I have been using PowerDirector (9/10 now 11) but I'm having nothing but trouble with 11. Problems that have never occured and nobody else seems to be having. The sound playing in the editor is completely out. If I skip the timeline back then the sound starts from where I paused it not where the cursor is etc.. Sometimes there is no sound playing at all and it has just become so infuriating I have packed it in with that software entirely. I could make videos with PD11 so quickly and easily though and have been doing so for so long everything else seems alien and I don't have ridiculous money to spend on software. I have been trying Sony Vegas Movie Studio trial but I am astounded how it has got to its current status without having (or seeming to have) a cut/slice tool to cut up one long clip into many smaller parts. Instead I have to crop the footage repeatedly to get the bits I need then piece it together which is incredibly slow. What else is there out there that isn't super technically advanced but will allow me to edit footage quickly and reliably without lacking neccessary tools such as a slice/cut tool?
