What do you guys think? Is the community better or worse now?

Good video mate. I cant really talk about how its changed of course because I'm just getting started out myself, but I have been watching for some time now and my head feels like its about to explode from the sheer mass of motovloggers on youtube, not only youtube in fact but other sites as well.

I think it really is becoming a craze pretty fast, it wont be long now before they start passing laws to stop it as that's what governments seem to do every time people find a way of relaxing, having a bit of fun and expressing themselves.

I already sub'd you on tube of you, my link is in the sig so sub me back and you'll be seeing a fair bit of me around these parts in the months to come :) Ride safe.

Chris

Quite interesting that actually. I'm new to vlogging this year but watched vlogs for a long time before I started myself, but even I've noticed a large increase in vloggers, including me!! :P I'm trying to be part of the community though, by posting on here and commenting on vids and even putting my location on the Zeemaps thing :)

+1

Defo a bigger influx this year but thats always to be expected as the 'riding season' starts again (yea I know I said riding so please don't start with the I ride all year thang ;) ).

I put it down to the gopro generation and it seems more people especially in the UK seem to be falling back in love with two wheels, could be to do with the costs or running a car to a bike.

Gotta say I love it though I have so many new vlogers on my sub list its unreal, just not enough time to watch em all though ;)

Also makes me want to keep making more vids myself!

I've been riding a year, and pretty much all year, but I think it just makes it more obvious when the 'riding season' starts again cos you start seeing more bikes (and my dad starts riding his again). Also, as an 18 year old I can't afford over £2000 to insure a Ford KA  And It's near impossible to watch everyone's vlogs, especially if there's been one nice day, so everyone went and did a vlog :)

I'm 30, I've been riding for 13 years but have never been mechanically minded, always taken bikes to garages for silly little things, never new how to do my own maintenance.

Honestly what's got me into this motovlogging lark is something that Del from Delboys Garage said. He said that no body teaches you how to do an oil change or spark plugs, or other simple maintenance tasks. The reason he does is what he does is to give back to the motorcycling community.

Well I've been watching how tos and vlogs and what not for about 7 months now and I've learned a lot from them. So I want to do this so that I can pass the message on to others. Passing on knowledge is something we humans have done since we lived in caves, I see vlogging as the modern equivilent of that.

And I think by doing this we learn new skills, we meet new people, we form part of this motorcycling community and its nice to feel apart of something.

Saw this in my sub box and had to come on here to comment.. haha.

I think cameras on bikes is always a good thing, however it's the microphone that can cause problems. I do agree that sometimes people jump into motovlogging too fast and potentially take concentration away from the road.. but what can you do?

I had been riding for 6 months before I got my camera and I learned a decent amount of road-craft in that time. In any case, more motovloggers the better for the community. I remember watching M13 years ago and searching for similar videos before I even knew the word 'motovlogger'. Now you can find a dozen awesome content creators which is great.

Same as a few others, I can't really comment on whether it's changed or not, as I've only been in the scene for a short while. I like the fact that more and more people are getting into it, as I like seeing/hearing what other riders have to say, sharing their experiences etc. I don't, however, like the weather in England at the minute. It seems to be against us.

I can't actually keep up with my youtube feed, it's crazy! I actually feel bad that I don't have time to watch everyone's vids and comment etc but it's a nice problem to have right! :)

Well, this one went pretty crazy, somehow now people have decided I've accused TGS of buying subs, don't know how, must be how the comments are laid out! Contemplating making this one private before things go really crazy, what do you guys think?

NB: Even the guy from RHOK sent me a pretty trollish comment......

Nah, let the trolls increase the number of comments and video views  It's clear you didn't accuse Jake of anything (Well I think it is).

This surely answers your own question. I doubt that 3 years ago, people were this concerned about other people's subscribers.

How the hell do you buy subscribers anyway? Do people stand on a street corner giving people money, in return for a subscription?

In other news, I'll subscribe to anyone in return for a bacon roll.

I've got a bacon roll here with your name on it mate. I better deliver this time round tho I guess!

i think it has changed because the new Helmet cams now days are popular, sold at most local shops and some insurance companies will cut the fees down if you ride with one

I am new to the scene, but will do my best to be a positve contributor to motovlogging. I got to work on cussing less though, never realized I said f*&$ so much, oh well, learn and grow! :)

I stopped vlogging about 7 months ago, and in probably the last 3 months stepped away from the community almost completely. The change in the number of vloggers in that time has increased massively, most notably the UK vloggers. When I first started, around the same time as curly, friz etc. you struggled to find someone from the UK on this forum. Like most people have said I think this is down to the accessibility of made for purpose helmet cameras now. Also natural expansion, it makes sense that the more vloggers there are, the more likely people are to find them. Then the likely hood of those people taking up vlogging increases, and the cycle continues. I think the only downside to this is that the real quality vlogs can sometimes disappear in a mass of normal vlogs.

Motovlogging has changed pretty drastically since I've been involved. Here's a brief history of my involvement, I'll list out some pretty drastic and specific changes in a future video.

Have any of you guys seen the http://www.bikething.co.uk website ?

It was started as a resource for all the bikers in here to have more of a 'bike' orientated resource, but has a lot if the members of motovlog. Not competition, just an alternative.

I think that motovlogging has started to bring some silly folk out of the closet such as... Look at how I wheelie, speed, do generic illegal stuff.

The problem is, young uns see it. At 16 they go out buy a 50cc, try same tepid stuff, become a danger to themselves. They then go do their test, try same stupid stuff, end up hurting themselves or others, all for a few YouTube views.

That's what I dislike about the current amount of vloggers.

The next thing that happens is that we bikers who want to become vloggers, concentrate more on the blogging than they do on the road, not building up enough experience before hand. Become a danger again.

I've done two proper motovlogs, one on a bike, one in a car. The bike vlog was dubbed... Ie I recorded my voice afterwards. I know some will see this as a cheats way, however, I did that for several reasons. 1. I had about 4 months riding experience at the time. 2. I was testing to see if anybody picked up on it... They haven't done to date. 3. It was a test ride, so the bike was too new to be doing some clogging on it. I needed to concentrate on getting used to the bike first.

The car one I did, wasn't dubbed. I have over 10yrs of driving experience. Enough said.

Most of my videos have been studio based reviews and how to vids. For many reasons including - I can do the studio stuff with my eyes closed, I'm waiting to get another bike and also that I like doing them.
