Re: Has anyone tried Sony ICDBX112 Digital Flash Voice Recor

I'm not sure if this is the model I owned before because there are a few in Sony's range of voice recorders that look identical on the front panels. I bought a really cheap one from Sony thinking it would be ok for vlogging purposes, but It turned out that there's no USB port, so no way of transferring the recorded files to PC!

Check on that aspect first, because there are versions out there in the Sony brand that do have a mini-usb connection.

As for me, I gave mine away to a friend at work after I realised my error.
I've now got an Olympus VN8600 voice recorder in a similar style to the Sony, but might be a tad more expensive, but it's fit for the purpose I need.

I pretty much have the exact same recorder. Only downfall is that it has inbuilt memory and no usb port to transfer onto the computer for syncing in post.

The method i worked out was use the headphone jack of the recorder and plug it into the audio input of my imac and then change a few settings on the computer to accept the input.
Then I used garage band to re-record the audio off the recorder while my footage is either rendering/converting. export in either mp3 or acc and then input into editing software.

That unit uses an internal storage medium. It does have a headphone jack so you can pipe it directly into a computer and use a sound recorder app to save the sound. After you have the sound clip you can add it to a video file with Windows Movie Maker or the Mac iLife software.
