I have a question for you guys, what are your thoughts on installing a riser kit on a super sport? Do you like the comfort while sacrificing the aggressive position?

I have a friend who has a cbr1000rr with an lsl handlebar installed and the position is definitely comfortable because you are more upright but you do lose the lean and aggressive look while riding.

It can look really weird, but for those with bad backs etc it could be a solution. Never ridden one with them though. In the good ol' days people would rip the fairings off and put upright bars and call them streetfighters! :D

No.
In the good old days, people would crash their bikes and not be able to afford to make good again after their insurance turned down the claim- so they bolted some cheap shiny tat to their bikes and pretended to like the new look, whilst crying inside at the eyesore. :D

Haha, love the 50-50 response. Although I prefer comfort over looks any day but I do admit that the lean position is an experience on a super sport. I think I'll stick to that aggressive lean angle and if I wanted a comfort bike, I would go for a naked or an actual streetfighter

The Triumph Street and Speed Triples offer proper performance with an very comfy riding position. I broke my back in 2007, sports bikes are now a distant memory unless something special comes along [cough/Aprilia RS660] :)

I've sat on both those bikes! Very comfortable and looks amazing. I mean you can definitely get one and put heli bars on those :p

I would sooner get a bike with an upright position from factory, surely putting risers on an aggressive position will render the foot pegs in an awkward position. Maybe I'm wrong.. but grandad bikes for the win! What they lack in horsepower, they make up for in comfort!!

You'd be surprised. It's actually quite nice to have those riser bars on a super sport. I will most definitely invest in a "grandada" bike in the future.

they make clipons with risers. look for helibars. a danger with switching to risers is the steering becomes unpredictable. they're made to have that weight forward and lower control point. might look at a stabilizer as well if you're putting on risers and a handle bar.

alternatively, supersports are intended to be revved so their top torque is high in the range. for most of your riding, you'll be in mid rpms so you might consider something intended to have top torque output lower. you'll get more thrills with the torque where you live than where you seldom get. just a though, you do you.

I've seen some people do it. The look is more like a sport-touring. If you don't mind the slightly odd look for the sake of more comfort, just go ahead. I think it's quite beneficial if you do a lot of long distance travels and don't want to have really sore neck + shoulder + arms + back at the end of the ride.

Hey all,
I know this is a little late, but I have a ZX14r and put 1" heli risers on it. Unless you see another bike next to mine you will never know and that 1" is amazing and all I needed.

And I have had 3 back surgeries.

I stuck a renthal bar with a cnctopyoke setup on my gsxr. Being upright is without a doubt more comfy, but I can still manage to tweak my neck.

Just a personal opinion, but I would never add risers. If it's too uncomfortable without them you're riding the wrong bike simple as that. Sportbikes shouldnt be comfortable, they arent meant to be. Get a super naked or a cruiser :D

My reasoning, it was cheaper to do this to my gsxr than to buy a gsxs1000. Insurance also cheaper on my ‘05, lighter, and I can always switch it back.
