There are two things to consider. You don't want a shadow on the screen but just as important, maybe more important, you don't want the green reflecting onto the subject. It's hard to see in person but on camera you'll see a green tint around the edges of the subject. You may not see it until you mask out the green screen but then it's really clear if you have green around the edges. Both back lighting the subject and moving away from the screen can help eliminate the green edgesOk thanks. Had everything right but back lighting on the subject. I will keep playing with it. Was planning on using it for a follow up video. Do you know how far the subject should be from the screen or does it matter. Probably far enough to not cast a shadow.
An alternative would be to try rotoscoping. Not sure if Vagas does that, but I've done it a few times and it worked fairly well.I'll give it a shot. Thanks again for being so helpful.
But how you going to drive around with lights and a big green screen?
Yes, Blue and green are used because it's not a color in the human skin (sorry Hulk).Techmoan did a piece on green screen using iMovie if anyone is interested.
Can't you set any colour to be the mask? In the "old days" they used to use a blue screen.
