GoPro Hero 10 expensive !

King of Mycenae
Australian Prices

GoPro subscription AUD $70

Hero10 Black AUD$820 (or $600 with GoPro subscription)

Hero10 Black + Accesories bundle AUD$990 (or $700 with GoPro subscription)

Media mod AUD$130

Battery AUD$30 each

Dual Battery charger (with spare battery) AUD$90

So... let's say I was to buy the subscription + GoPro 10 with accessories bundle + media mod + dual charger with additional spare battery + 3rd spare battery that would be AUD$1,020- (equates to USD$738)

There are a few things in the accessories bundle I don't need - namely magnetic swivel clip, shorty tripod, camera case. Bit I still think it works out better than buying a spare battery and an SSD card separately?

So let's say I was to buy the subscription + GoPro 10 (no bundle) + media mod + dual charger with additional spare battery + 3rd spare battery = $920 plus 32GB SD card (sandisk extreme as per the bundle spec) $16 = AUD$936 so slightly cheaper. (equates to USD$678)

(n.b. exchange rate used 1AUD=0.72USD)

So a bit rich for my blood sadly.

How do these prices compare to actual prices in the USA?

Man, they do seem to get more expensive every model.
Even though there are more and more competitors present...

Do they enjoy the fact that Drift killed itself, and everyone jumping to GoPro.
Or are they becoming the iPhone off the camereworld>?

I'm in the US, and I paid $399 for the Hero 10 + Accessories Bundle. Since I'm a subscriber to GoPro, I got a Media Mod for $56, spare batteries for $16 each [2]. Total was $542 including expedited shipping and tax.

I had waited a few months after the 9 came out to buy it, and it was $349, same price for the Media Mod, and $2 cheaper each for spare batteries.

The price looks like it may have gone up a little bit, but not overly so IMO.

It sucks for overseas customers, apparently :(

Yeah the "Australia tax'.

Nothing to do with actual tax, just the "we can screw them, so we will' approach.

I assume the camera sold here is exactly the same as the US model.

Almost worth buying in US and get a mate to ship on.
Big problem is warranty required though.

I have to say, after spending about 10 hours with the Hero 10, it's a phenomenal camera, and worth the price. Works better with the remote, is way more responsive than the 9, records fine, has plenty of options, and battery life is pretty good - although maybe not as good as the 9. If you're on the fence between them, I'd pick up a 10 over a 9, regardless of price. IIRC, the 9 is $349 USD and the 10 is currently $399 USD, an easy choice at only a $50 difference.

I plan to dive more into the settings and play around with it in the coming weeks before recording an actual review video of it, though.

I'd get one if I could but finding $1K to spend is very unlikely.

I get that - like I've said before, if I hadn't saved up my pennies for it over the summer, I wouldn't have been able to order it as soon as it came out.
