Gopro Adhesive Mounts For Helmet

I have finally got my official gopro skeleton case official mic jack and a £25 external mic went to set it all up tonight to notice that my mount is set on the right side of my helmet and the cable jack for external mic needs to go into the left ........ DOH..... when I tried to put it in I noticed the camera is too close to the helmet to fit in so I need to put the mount on the left side of my helmet......

I now notice that GoPro only give you one curved and one straight adhesive mount WHICH SUCKS so I go on the GoPro website to find a pack with 3 curved and 3 straight adhesive mounts but they want £19.99 for it wtf is it made out of GOLD .... why so dam expensive what can they justify £20 for 6 adhesives......?

I am now at a loss I don't really want to fork out more money again and sorry to say it feels like daylight robbery I would have expected £5 or £6 quid not fucken £20 thanks had my rant Semper out ;)

You can always look at the China, or imitation ones, they have flat or curved, various packaging sets. If it's just the base unit (the part where another one slides into it), it's fine, the parts with the flexible ears, you need to be careful, those can snap rather easily.

Its just the base it sticks to the helmet but being honest it gonna be holding a £200+ camera I would be rather worried buying china immatations to be honest because you sacrifice a lot of quality I think..... and to me the adhesive side of things to me is a high priority I know I will eventually buy the official ones but I'm gonna write them a stiff email first :) and have a rant.... lol then ill pay :)

SighBored just watched one of your tours HUGE respect to you and your crew really really nice bikes and really really superb riding I only been riding a little over a year and even watching the videos got me a little freaked how leaned over some of you guys where wish I could be that confident dam nice speeds also keep it up and I subscribed and cant wait to see your next road trip :) :) :)

also if you could point me into some China ones that has a reputable stick for motovloggin I would be more than happy to look at them I just a bit worried the camera will fall off and don't want to lose it :) your way to skilled and dare devil for me to go riding with I would lose you lot within 2 minutes of take off hahahahahahahahaha

I thought the same thing when I first got my GoPro, I've never used any unofficial mounts due to the sheer cost of the GoPro ($650 AUD) and I've been on 2 road trips ~11,000K total and have had no issue with the sticky mount (fingers crossed!!) that's in a mix of

40°C days
Torrential rain (sometimes 40°C and rain lol)
And sitting at 169Km/h for hours at a time. (169 may or may not be the top speed of my bike haha)

I've had the GoPro for about 4 months.

I also had to buy new mounts (again) because of a new helmet. I've made peace with motovlogging sucking the life out of my bank balance :(

Thanks for viewing and the sub, my rides are not even close to what some of the others do, when you see those you'll be even shocked if you think my rides are fast. LoL.
Everyone has their own preference and style of riding, I just ride to what I'm comfortable with, if anyone wants to go faster or slower, it's their freedom.. Hence called "free ride" whereby you're not required to stick within the group and everyone keeps a similar pace. RV or regroup points are pre-established during the pre-ride brief so you still have your freedom without worrying about getting lost/leaving someone behind. Main point is to ride within your limits, I'm sure you'll improve it the more you ride.

As for the China ones, I don't have any preferred sellers, I just go by the lowest price+shipping along with the seller reputation, needs to be highly rated with at least 98% positive feedback. If you user eBay or Aliexpress there's buyer protection, you can request for refund if the item doesn't arrive or is not the item you ordered. Most of my mounts are actually imitation ones and I have no complaints. As mentioned the ones which have the tabs/ears are pretty delicate, other than that, everything else seems alright. I did lose a camera due to the camera housing breaking off at the neck joint, however I think it was partly my bad, because previously that same housing hit the road when I dropped my bike but I still kept on using it.. For that case a tether wouldn't have saved the camera as it broke right at the neck.

What I would recommend to get as original are the handle bar mounts, both the small one and larger one.

Thanks for that but.... :) really appreciate it.... my biggest problem is after 6 months of riding I had a slight accident with my bike going about 15mph or 20mph I know it was my fault but ever since then my leaning style has been altered a big way I lack confidence in leaning now and it frustrates me to hell...... I did however feel like giving up but I fell in love with biking a BIG way hence why I went back on the bike I still love riding but its the leaning that's going to ruin me lol if I managed to get control of that I think I would be a lot more happier but everything I have tried since has failed.... I think the fear of falling is still with me even though I feel I have made peace with the fact that it was my error in the accident..... footage below

@Semper Try an advanced course, you'd be amazed what it'll do for your confidence and riding.

Feel free to PM me if you want to know more. I'm sure @Shifty would be happy to pass on info as well.

See that's the thing I was considering doing an Advanced riding course but mostly everyone who I talked to about it in my area said it was a waste of money and they don't teach you anything that you don't already know on the road..... but after the accident I did consider it but the feedback I received was negative so I left it.....

The day you feel like you can't learn any more about riding is the day you should stop riding.

Even the top level advanced tutors keep learning, and even learn things from students.

It helped me no end. You don't always learn new things, but you will certainly learn a new thought process and a multitude of ways to deal with hazards which is what the thinking rider needs in their arsenal.

RoSPA and IAM cost very little. RoSPA is £20 per year and a £60 test when you're ready, IAM is a £140 upfront fee, both you tend to give your tutor a spot of fuel money, £5-10 per session depending how far you've gone that day. It can help with insurance, but after a couple of sessions you'll soon see what you take away in terms of how differently you'll think and how you plan your ride, the latter making a massive difference, more than any techniques you learn.

Advanced driving and riding is far more than wheel shuffling, hi-viz riders on RTs and a lofty attitude, although none of those apply these days, well, certainly not on the bike side.

Find a local group or two from both RoSPA and IAM, meet a few people and see how you get on. Different groups have different approaches, different attitudes, find one you like.

Might look into that I never ever stop learning when I am riding out for a cruise I tend to goto an industrial estate and practice a little few techniques and brush up on skills what really gets up my back is I can go out on a ride and I can go round roundabouts and sharpish turns no bother and the next second I can go round a half bend or even a roundabout again and totally lose confidence and fuck up how ever I am confident it is a confidence issue if you catch my drift lol sounds funny but true !

many bikers just blame the car drivers in accidents. But you have taken the right view. A small accident that you can move on from and always realise just how vulnerable you are. You did very well to avoid the vehicle so don't be to hard on yourself. But always remember you can can't steer and brake hard. As you experienced. Most bikes would low side like that. I would suggest you pick up the phone to Rospa or IAM and get some tuition just as @Lurch suggested.
