Gopro 5 Audio Adapter?

I originally received this one in the mail only to find out the gopro 5 doesn't use Mini USB, but uses its own proprietary gopro connector (how ridiculous is that?):

The only adapter I can find for the gopro 5 is this one, and its huge!

Does anyone know of better alternatives for this issue? I don't want to stick that massive brick onto my helmet.

I caved and bought the brick of an adapter for $85 bux. What a scum move by gopro

It isnt a proprietary connector, it is USB-C which most mobiles will probs start using soon too I imagine.
The brick is utter garbo but there are no alternatives currently as it has encryption so nothing else will work.
Be careful when using the external mic to ensure you run your GoPro on an earlier version of the firmware than v2.0 as you lose the audio when using the 1touch record feature on v2.0. I have posted a video showing how to revert your firmware if you are already on v2.0

Oh my lord thanks for the intel bro. I suppose nerds will soon start to release cheaper versions of these adapters, and hopefully the majority of people that use gopros will see the scummy ways of gopro, and move away from their technology in the future.

That can be said for all manufacturers. Using proprietary stuff is the best way to keep you in their ecosystem of accessories (apple anyone) .

Never stopped third party PRC manufacturers from cracking the tech and reverse engineering shit and selling for dirt cheap on eBay and Alibaba.
