Serious Good Cop Or Bad Cop?

Not a bad cop, but somewhat of an unlawful stop in my opinion. He didn't suspect you guys of personally committing a crime, so you shouldn't have been pulled over in the first place. However, you guys handled it very well and respectfully, and let him explain what was going on, and I think I would have done the same. Good video.

It happens way too often these types of "random" stops, but he wasnt an asshole about it. a little respect goes a long way for sure!

For sure. A couple years ago I was riding around and got pulled over. The officer walked up and said something like, "The reason I'm pulling you over is because I ran your plates and they didn't come up as registered, so I just need to verify this and you'll be on your way."... So he did and I was on my way within 10 minutes... It wasn't until afterwards that I realized how unlawful that stop was. Thinking back I wish I would have (respectfully) stood up for myself because there was no reason he should have been running my plates randomly, and I shouldn't have been pulled over. I wasn't breaking any laws to begin with.

Impervium, it's probably best you didn't try to stand up to him as it's not illegal for him to run your plate.

Agreed, it just bothers me that he chose to run my plates for no apparent reason, and then proceeded to waste both our time. I remember it was also the end of the month and he might have just been trying to fill a quota or something. I don't know, I think he just picked on me because I was a motorcyclist.

In the UK plates are automatically read by traffic cars and it alerts the officer if something is amiss.

The UK Police have often pulled people on a hunch or something they felt wasn't right, and often something comes up.

Sometimes you get pulled, checked and on your way randomly, but they'll give you a "reason" because they have to have one by law.

However, if it's genuinely a random stop and check and you're all above board and the officer is polite and efficient in his duties I see no issue.
