Maybe this can answer your question!

I have tested my GoPro Hero 2 a couple of different ways so far:

1. Onboard sound w/ Waterproof case w/ waterproof back door - Sound is muffled and a little ringy and high pitched. Some wind noise.
2. Onboard sound w/ Waterproof case w/ skeleton back door - Sound is pretty dang good for onboard sound. You can tell the beastly thump of bikes and such. Definitely some wind noise.
3. External mic plugged into the Hero 2 w/ extremely cheapo basically home made microphone and a home made wind screen made out of fuzzy material crap I found - Sound is BEAUTIFUL. No clipping, no wind noise, not muffled, just right. Better sound than my previous setup with a VN6200PC audio recorder! I'm stoked! Now I don't have to sync the audio file with the video file! :D

I left a comment over on your vid. The mic sounds really great! I don't care for the "fish-eye" effect though.

It only looks a bit quirky sometimes as a result of it having a very wide angle lens, but a wide angle lens has benefits! It makes 60mph look like 100mph and you definitely won't miss any of the action.

Wide angle lens is defiantly the way to go, it only looks weird on close ups, but captures the view as you ride so much better than normal angle.

I have a midland headset (Radio helmet speakers + boom mike) that I am going to attempt to connect to the Gopro when it turns up.

We shall see how that goes :)

Just watched the video of your make shift mic.... It looks like there's a bird sleeping nice and comfy in your helmet lol :D

This is with the "waterproof" case and back door that has the cut-out (no external mic):

I'll be doing a test with the external mic as soon as it's warm enough to go out without freezing the twins. :)
