Go Pro Battery Life.

I honestly don't understand the people who buy portable charging packs.. sorry and no offence and i can see how you would buy it if you didn't know about other gopro battery packs... there is a wasabi extended battery pack which lasts me over 4 hours when recording in 1028p ... and over 5 hours when recording in 720p ... really handy.. just do some research for after market gopro batteries.... theres also a brunton gopro battery which is weather resistant (not proof) basically theres a few batteries out there that will last you a long time with a right sd card. I honestly just use the wasabi because i don't spend 5 hours in a motorcycle. That would hurt my ass

DO NOT GO WITH THE OFFICIAL GOPRO Extended battery. They suck! well as apposed to the wasabi and brunton. They only last 3 hours.

SORRY .. i can't post pics or link so i can't show you what they look like b

Well part of it you kind of answered your self. http://www.amazon.com/XCSOURCE-Exte...55299&sr=8-16&keywords=EXTENDED+BATTERY+GOPRO
The Wasabit and XcSource extended batteries are around $30 I picked up the 5700mah packs shipped to my door for under $10. The other part of that is that they attache to the back of the camera. I am not able to use that because I have the Sena BT Backpack. If you need water tight then going with one of them with the water tight is the way to go. I Personally try to Avoid riding in the rain and when I do I ussally do not have the cam going at the time so it is not even attached to my helmet at them time. Long story short for me external battery Gives you extended Record times with out Higher price. I am still going on the first 5700mah pack and I am over 6 hours Record time and still showing about half on the external battery meter.

Because then you have to put the GoPro in a crap place like on the side or top of the helmet.

Although I never record a video longer than 15 mins, so havent encounter the battery issue. And since I'm recording at 720p, it saves the battery as well.
But those tips will definitely helpful.

Now now! They're not crap places. They're places you don't like, that others may or indeed may not like. It's preference, not fact! :)

But yes, those who chin mount or otherwise fit their camera without much room behind it might prefer a pack on a wire.

There's some pretty high mAh packs out there too that are designed for other applications, so for 5+ hours, these might be preferable to some.

Long and short of any solution, be it mounting or power, there's no right or wrong, there's personal preference, cost factors and convenience to consider.

I mounted mine on my bars and use my GPS cable with a voltage adaptor to keep it charged at all times.
