Full Leathers Or Textiles And Armoured Jeans

For commuting and general riding I wear armoured textiles over my normal clothes and for a fun ride in the sunshine I usually wear my hood kevlar jeans and either a leather jacket or my textile one (depending on temp). Its all about the comfort, you could be wearing a suit of platemail with leathers and armour under it but its just makes you more likely to crash it is a risky balancing act to play though

I always ride in full leathers. Either shooting to the local shops or going out on a heavy ride. Lots of companys sell kevlar jeans now.

Thing is leathers are always banging on about being cow leather or kangaroo leather and being 2 layered or 3 layered or double stitched or triple stitched etc etc bla bla blahhh and yet jeans just have one layer . . . Same goes for textiles. Obvs its got the armour in it but what about the rest which is just fabric? What does everyone think?

Plus all moto race types wear full leathers, i no to stop drag but surely its safer

And im aware it doesnt matter what type you wear as long as you stay shiny side up. I will still wear full leathers . . . im a power ranger and the job sort of requires it
Full leathers for me too, apart from the love of the feel against my skin thanks to my crotchless leather fetish I think it's safer.....but mostly I like to sniff it.

I joke of course!

Many true a word spoken in jest ;)

I've a question about leather pants/trousers. Ive currently got GoreTex kit with armour at the knees. If I got some leather pants will they be warmer or coller in summer than the textiles and do you need a thin undergarment with the leathers?

That's an awkward one, but it's both :p

Mesh textiles are cooler than leathers, which are cooler than un-vented textiles :p

Rightiho! I'll look out for some leather trousers then. Not cheap tho! Do they sweat inside on a hot day?

..before you know it, you'll be looking like one of these guys all in leathers :p :.....

...ah, the 1980's  ~.....

My leathers feel far better than textiles in summer
Is agree, I prefer leathers in summer.

I ride in my one piece all year and have a rain suit I put over the top which is toastie but summer unless I'm sat on the bike stationary with the engine running I'm quite comfortable

Even if I could afford full leather I am not sure I would use it much unless its a twisties ride. It gets a little to warm here to use it all the time. Textile is what I mainly use.

Right now I only use textile, but I'm planning on getting a perforated leather jacket for the summer. I'm curious to see the difference.

I agree. Right now a full leather suit would be a waste of money for me, because I would only use it when I ride the twisties. If you mainly ride in the city/highway textile or a leather jacket and textile pants or motorcycle jeans are way more comfortable and today they are nearly as safe as leather.

Leather jacket is my next purchase, sometimes it's just an icon field armor and armored jeans, other times it full gear, depending on the type of adventure adhead.

I always, ALWAYS wear a leather jacket, regardless of whether I'm going 2 miles or 20. I alternate between textiles and heavy jeans trouser-wise though. I used to wear my leather trousers all the time, but I've become more... 'portly' than I was before, and they no longer fit comfortably *sadface*

I started with a textile jacket because i live down here in miami and i needed something year round for all kinds of weather, but i noticed that textile doesnt handle wind that well. I recently started using leather, and i cant complain about it. Nothing gets through, completeley water proof and it accomodates to practically any weather. Sunny or cold, it hasnt let me down...and the fact that its wayyyyyy more comfortable. And i always wear jeans for bottoms, i carry water proof pants on my bike all the time since Miami's weather is so unpredictable
