G'day,
Just uploaded my first motovlog covering an introduction about myself, my bike and my gear. Any feedback or constructive criticism is more than welcomed - enjoy!

Carmo.
Just to elaborate on what I said on facebook about the audio, I have a Sony IC recorder model ICD PX-312 which I think I picked up for around $30-40 USD. It has ample file space and is still running on the original batteries. It fits into my front pocket and I plug a lapel mic (Sony ECM CS3, about $15-20 USD) in and then place that inside a cheek pad. After a few tests I found that I needed to put some foam on the mic to cut down on the harshness of it. So to synch up the audio and video what I do is just clap my hands loudly three times with the camera and mic on. When I edit my video I just look for those three spikes in the spectrograms (or whatever) on both audio tracks and I line them up. Once it's all lined up I can just cut the video as needed. It kinda sounds more complicated than it is, but I only have trouble with wind noise on especially windy days, a problem I'm sure I could solve with a chin skirt. This might all be more trouble than it's worth though if you wear an open faced helmet.

I bet I used to have a 79 XS1100 and that was a lot of bike 500+ pounds but the harleys are a lot longer, good luck

Nice one Carmo. It will be good once you have a mic setup. I've got the Sony ActionCam AS100V and its a good camera. It has in build picture stabilisation and SplashProof even out of the case. I didn't like any of the mounts that came with it (although it does fit to GoPro mounts) so I just got some 3M dual lock (Velcro on steroids) and stuck it to the side of my helmet. I ran a $20 lapel mic that I got from JayCar electronics under the cheek pad to the external mic on my camera. I just tuck the jack / cord under the cheek pad when Im not using the camera. Works a treat. Just remember not to position the mic directly in front of your mouth as you get to much breathing noise.
Lookin forward to the walk around vid, the bike looks like a beast.

I agree with the Action Cam stock mounts, I got the helmet mount kit from a company called Vivitar and they work awesome

In the meantime before you get your camera/mic setup perfect, consider doing a voiceover post ride. That way you have your video and audio separately, and might make for cool and interesting edits. I imagine it's easy to pile on the kilometres riding in a big country like Australia. I look forward to your future videos :-)

Liked it ... As said before once you've tinkered with the sound you will be able to ride more freely (I'm still waiting for a mic)

Cheers for the feedback people. I'm currently road tripping from Melbourne to Brisbane and back via Sydney and the coast, getting some good footage along the way. Should be able to do up a road trip motovlog when I finish - going to be a lot of footage to go through!
