Feedback Needed First Attempt At Multi-camera Live Stream On Youtube

Matt Leech

What chicken strips?
I've done a few tests with single-camera live streaming on youtube today, but the setup for multi-cam is a little more involved so I have no idea whether this is going to work.

The stream will go live at 18:00 UTC+1 and should be live for about fifteen minutes at which point I'll lose mobile-data signal in the Peak District.

The primary camera is lid-mounted and will have voice audio. The secondary camera is mounted at the rear.

I had planned to use my phone to stream as a third camera, but can't find a way to make that possible.

This is the channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCTlaCNJLEYVQ-9stFd2yXdg

I'm hoping that it'll be obvious how to view the live stream once you're on there.

I couldn't watch it live but did watch it last night. The quality is great where you have good signal but is unwatchable when it drops out. Also, the downside to a live stream is that you can't edit out the boring bits where nothing is going on. I think it could be a great thing if the signal could be guaranteed and you were to do a structured stream with a point of interest on a bike tour or something.

Hi @HippoDrone, I think that you must have watched my single-cam test from earlier in the day because my multi-cam test was an abject failure.

I agree with you about the quality being very poor when the signal drops, and that's always going to be a problem while riding.

With regards to the boring bits, I think that if I were live streaming for a purpose, then I'd be talking the entire time and hopefully keep it interesting.

However, I don't think that I'll be live streaming much after these tests and results, maybe I'll save it for private stuff with the missus.

Did you catch the funny moment with the peds trying cross the road after the man had gone red?

From 03:32 to 03:54.

Ummm I think youtube frowns on "those" videos! ;-)
Ha, yes I did, I don't get some folk just running into the road like that
