External Mic For Gorpro Hero 4 To Catch Exhaust Sounds, Help Please

Hi,
Has anyone here wired up a external mic and run the cord to their exhaust to capture the crisp exhaust notes, I have a Gopro Hero 4 and was hoping to run a cord from the gopro to somewhere near the exhaust, at the moment I suffer from some serious wind noise from using just the gopro standard internal mic when riding along, the quality of the engine noise could be seriously improved.

What are my options, do Rode produce any suitable mics for what I had in mind?

Thanks for your help

I don't mean on the actual exhaust haha, just close by and hidden in the fairing, so run the mic cord from the camera and down my sweatshirt into the bike, therefore much closer to the exhaust

Ah ok - I'll be honest. I love this site, jeez, I own it but sometimes the odd comment makes me want to close it ;) Yours read like one of those ha

BUt yea. I have banged a microphone in a bit of kitchen sponge, placed it on the pillion peg and it sounded awesome! Good old sponge works a treat for keeping the wind off
