Seriously not serious
Ok, so I want my scala speaker output to feed directly into my drift microphone input while still having the mic pick up my voice. I tried to directly splice wires from one speaker to the microphone, but in the drift recording, the speaker output was very loud (distorted even), and the microphone was extremely quiet (ie my voice was recorded, but much quieter than usual). I figure that the powered output of the speaker is overpowering the normally unpowered drift mic.

So I figure I need a resistor of some sort to restrict the speaker output. ie scala-->speaker-->resistor-->drift mic<--drift

I dont want to know about placing a second drift mic next to the scala speaker, I want to know if what I suggest can be done.

Hoping there is an electrical engineer or student on here to help.

Thanks

if my junior levels of electronics (im a lighting guy :\) are anywhere near correct then i would say you would need to completely separate the two signals and rewire them together. the cheapest and easiest way to do this i believe (once again lighting tech not audio/speaker tech :\ ) would be to use an audio splitter. i havnt personally used a scala before only seen them on other peoples helmets so i dont know the connections and plugs bases but you could split the scala speaker cable to a 2.5 or a 3.5 jack depending on the drift you have and then use a splitter like.

http://www.amazon.com/Belkin-Speaker-an ... e+splitter

these generally split the input/output in such a way that the two signals are equal. it could also be easier to reverse this and put the splitter into the scala. i dont know how the scala plugs though. but once again i hope this works and if someone could tell me how wrong i am (if :]) that would be awesome!

goodluck man

what you have drawn is exactly what i tried first, but the sound level coming from your "2.5/3.5mm jack to splitter" note and the mic are vastly different, so all the drift hears is music/chatter from the scala and a tiny faint voice from the mic. I need to somehow balance the sound level.

Jeez I tried for a damn long time to embed my skydrive image here, but just can't do it. If someone knows how to do this TELL ME!!!!!

So, anyway, here's the link http://sdrv.ms/12Rs3DC

There's a very good chance this will solve your problem. Yes, I do this sort of thing for a living..!

Nice! So this runs in parallel with the speaker? And would the 20kVR cover all, or would you need to know the mic and speaker ratings to fine tune this circuit?

Geez mate, I thought that YOU were the engineering expert!

Do you have a Jaycar store nearby?

If you do or a similar store, you could take your stuff in to them, show them what you want to do and they will suggest a fix I reckon.

Copy image url by right clicking on the original pic, then paste it here and add [ img]https://www.whateverpicyouwanttoshowpeople.com[/img] (put the image url in place of the "https://www.whateverpicyouwanttoshowpeople.com" as opposed to including it which would be pretty funny, but totally unnecessary)

Can you explain this on a very basic level? I have been wanting to do the same thing, but I dunno how, and I am not super great at reading electrical schematics.

If it works, I'll post a how to video.

Okay, so let me get this straight, you want the camera to record the sound from your mic, and also what you hear from other people via the cardo scala rider?okay, now my question : Do you have a g9 or a g4? I have a g4 thats why I ask. I also would like to do that to my setup ( i have the sony action cam). I dont want to have to use 2 mics on both devices.

I feel bad, as I am an electronics technician but I dont have the foggiest when it comes to audio and such :D I read the scala cant feed its mic into the camera so i dropped it, maybe you guys can find a solution :)
