Hey guys.
I am very new to vlogging, Ive just bought myself a Drift HD Ghost and plan to start vlogging a soon as i buy my external mic for my helmet. I am trying to edit using Avid Pinnacle Studio 15 but i'm struggling editing. Its not very user friendly for beginners. Any advice what programs are the best for beginners ? I dont want to use Win Movie Maker because it looks kinda cheap.

I am not too sure how much youtube decreases the video quality of videos. Is it worth recording vlogs in 1080p?
What format should I be making my videos in for youtube?
Thanks

I've not been doing this long so my point may be invalid.... But here goes

I'm using Sony Vegas, the interface seems ok to me and you have more control than the likes of windows movie maker. It's also quite cheap too.

I like to do mine at either 720 or 1080 as it does give a clearer view. But that's my preference... If you upload to YouTube at hd quality, you have the choice then at what quality you want to view it at.

I've never used avid, so I'm unable to comment on it. But I hope my comment helps a little

Okay thanks withabitofginger your comment does help a bit. Ill have a look at Sony Vegas. Maybe once ive got the hang of Sony Vegas ill give Avid ago again.

I've used mostly iMovie and Windows movie maker. The thing I like about iMovie is the high quality of the processed output video.
both Movie Maker and iMovie are very limited in what you can do with them compared to more profesional level software.

I would like a more sophisticated editor, preferably on Windows, so I'm interested in the consumer version of Avid. I've used Vegas, and it was OK but not great. Or maybe I'll bite the bullet and go with Final Cut.

I always record in 720p mode, I don't think the average vLogger (and I'm certainly average at best) gains anything from recording in 1080 except much longer processing and upload times.

Your first videos (and my case my 200th video) are going to suck anyway. 720 is fine.

Embrace the suck!

Have a look at Adobe Premiere elements.

Much cheaper than the full Premiere Pro but will do everything you need :)

I use pinnicle studio 14, it is a very good program. I am still a novice however, I learned just by spending a few hours fiddling with all the tools and seeing what they did. Then when I wanted to do something specific I'd just google it :] Sony vegas is very good aswell though, less user friendly but it has more options for stuff
