Hi guys, recently upgraded to a Hero5, yeah i know the adapters an ugly brick of a thing but meh i don't care. I have the adapter on order atm and have picked up a lapel mic and some cables (2 3.5mm Y-splitters and 1 3.5mm male-to-male) in attempts to capture my voice as well as audio from my Bluetooth Comms headset. Below is a diagram of the intended wiring. Let me know if you think its going to work or have any advice on how I could improve.

That is a cool diagram. I found tucking the mic for the Gopro into the slot in the padding for the chins trap picks up me, the speaker by ear, and any noise outside the helmet just fine.

This work on 3/4 and full helmets.

Could you link me to one of your videos? I got my mic adapter and tried my planned setup. the two audio sources fight for attention and end up causing a lot of distortion and interference. So I'm just going to try one splitter and two lapel mics. one up front and one by my left ear speaker.

Sure, if you click on my screen name it should pull up a window and there will be a red YouTube dot. Once you click on that, in my channel you will see a playlist.
Check out the following:

Somewhere after the intro card will be me and my pal chatting about the rider in front of us.

P.S. Seems the website will grab a link and convert it to posting the video. Sorry mods. :(

That solution will work fine as you can see in R-Rated's video but for me I wasn't happy with the results and when running the splitters it didn't help any. I now use the sena GP10 backpack for gopro to record all audio. Won't work with the Hero 5 Black though. I run my Hero 5 as a secondary cam and use the backpack on my Hero 4 Black. Being able to record comms makes for much better videos so I hope you find a good solution.

Great points. I did not realize the Hero 5 has not had a work around for the Sena yet.
