Drift's .MOV format

It's taken me a while to notice the difference in quality of my Drift videos when I replay them through Apple's Quicktime player versus Windows Media Player, YouTube, etc. The clarity is noticeably better when using Quicktime, which I attribute to the .MOV format being an Apple product.

Anyone more knowledgeable than I have some light you can shed on this "theory"?

Not tested myself as I not a MOV file fan anyhow your right the MOV format uses algorithms developed by apple and Windows media player can not play MOV files by default with out a codec so I would look at how windows media player is decoding the file. Have you tried VLC as it has the encoder built into the player.

I didn't know about VLC. I just checked it out and will be trying it asap. Thanks!

With most video, if VLC can't play it, nothing will

The clarity difference of an MOV on QuickTime vs MediaPlayer is most likely due to it being the native QuickTime video format. I bet the clarity exists on a windows based QT player as well, not just Mac. Also, it's not "Drift's MOV format" it's "quicktime's MOV format." LOTS of cameras film in MOV.
