Drift Night Settings

Hi everyone, I am just curious to see what settings everyone is using for their drift(ghost s) at night. I haven't found the perfect settings yet and most settings I have tried so far have been soooo grainy(especially when the sun has just set) and sometimes the video comes out overexposed in some conditions. Even in the daytime, it seems a little grainy. I have been using 1080p/60fps high bitrate vivid setting with exposure setting set to 0. At night, I have still been experimenting and there are so many different combinations of settings, a little direction might help.

In short my questions are:
Settings for night?
Settings for day?
Do you change any settings when it is cloudy/rainy outside?

Sorry if this is a repeat but I couldn't find anything asking about night settings using the search bar.

During the day I use vivid mode with exposure set at 0. I use that setting pretty much all the time unless it's actually night time (not evening with sun going down). At dark I switch it to night (low light) and bump the exposure +2. It seems to look the best but really there is no such thing as great night footage if you are outside of a city area with a good amount of street lights or business lighting, etc.

I will also add a bit of color correction regardless of day or night recording if I feel it needs it. I don't tweak things much as I don't want it too look fake but sometimes it helps to adjust for a overcast day or a dim evening sky.

Just don't forget to turn the night setting off when you record again in the day or you will get nothing but a white screen and be pissed off haha. I've done that too many times and missed some great shots.

Viewing the video on my other computer made a world of difference on how it looked and didn't notice the grainy footage that I thought I was having.

I was recording at low light setting with +2 exposure and was working pretty good in the pitch dark with no other light than my headlight. However, as soon as I hit civilization, every single light turned into a blob and cars were turned into moving light balls. So looks like I should try a lower exposure setting?

• I never shoot the Drift Ghost S in 60 fps. It has too much aliasing. (Straight lines are jagged). Its much better in 1080 30 fps, last longer and is clearer.
• I will start using VIVID in the sun as I have seen a couple of youtube comparisons and the colours of the sky and buildings are much better.
• Night I use low Light, 0 exposure.
• Always talk with mic setting 1, using a cut up sink sponge as the mic cover, just inside chin.
• Never change from this even when weather is poor. Use the computors colour correction when overcast and rainy.

Vivd does make everything look better. Ill try the 30fps thing and see how it turns out.

That's what I forgot to mention. You should never use 60fps at night. 30fps will have the camera catch more light.

Maybe the s model or the new stealth. I have the ghost and it is manually done.

My hero 4 black will change into lowlight automatically though.

S will do 1080p 60fps regular ghost will do 1080p30fps or 720p60fps

The quality difference between the Ghost and Ghost S is very noticeable at night.

Night mode and -1 exposure worked out very well. Made everything a lot more clearer especially when I went through downtown and the rain didn't show up as much. I am still testing the differences between 1080p at 30 and 60 fps.

This issue is one feature that sets the GoPro Hero 4 Black above competition. It will automatically adjust for low light while recording and will even change the frame rate if needed.
