Do any of you use the sticky mounts for the Drift on the side of your helmets?

i had planned to, but today saw it unstick and fall of for the third time in 7 weeks, i dont leave the drift on the mount, as ive not been out to use it yet.

ive cleaned the area im sticking the mount to many times, but it still wont stick, is there anything i can use to permanently stick the mount on?

B&Q sell some pretty heavy duty 3M.

A guy called 'Daforba' on YT made a video on mounting options on the Drift.

He suggested that you unscrew the mounting platform, & use some sticky 3M and place it onto the helmet and the cam. But this cam mount will be permentent so make sure its correct first time (if you choose this mount).

If your worried about it falling off watch Chuckles video on the security tag.

or Maybe fresh Velcro may work, I used velco on my GoPro & now using it on the Drift.

B&Q and Homebase sell decent velcro and sticky pads. I personally use velcro which I got from Homebase and it hasn't shown any signs of budging at all. Providing you get a good surface area presented to the mount's velcro then it won't move unless you really yank on it.

I put one of the sticky mounts on my helmet and then put the velcro on top of that. I'm pretty sure I did the same thing to the mount the Drift slides into. So far I've never had a problem with the camera even starting to come loose, even after leaving the Drift attached for an extended period.

ive now got the mount to the shape of the helmet, i used a heat gun to soften the plastic enough to let me mould it into shape, i think im going to go with the velcro, i will pop into B&Q tomorrow and see what they have

That is a great idea, but make sure the plastic hasn't got any 'stress' marks after cooling as it will snap after some use. The stress marks in plastic look 'white'.

Velcro! the Vloggers BFF,, and B stands for Butts (Ill let you lot fill in the rest of that)

I used the Velcro Pads that came with the Drift as they be plenty strong enough, holds like a champ in all weathers and wont shift upto 100mph (restriction blows)

So far all is well! keep us posted when you get some!

Nice and at like £2 a pop it isnt that expensive either!

I got a GoPro mount adapter for the Drift and put a GoPro adhesive mount on my helmet. That way I can pivot the camera away from the helmet and make sure my helmet isn't in the frame. The GoPro adhesive is strong. I've kicked my GoPro and broke the little arm that goes between the adhesive mount and the camera but the adhesive mount didn't budge.

Yea the GoPro mounts are super strong, ive got one stuck on the Caberg Konda i use, i use the GoPro/Drift mount to mount the cam on that, because its a flip face helmet, there isnt really anywhere for a Drift mount

I've really gone for it with a drift mount velcroed to my helmet no bother, doesn't move at all. What I also do though, is attach a bit of para cord, looped through the screw on plastic mount that slots in, tied it off, and thread my helmet strap through it, so if it does come loose, it's saved. It hasn't yet though, probably never will.
