Hi guys. If you have read my last thread you can see im a first timer with video cameras/ editing etc and im having a few problems.

When transferring my videos to the pc i keep getting a message saying file type not supported. Ive been recording in 720p so far.
Now because my pc doesnt have a hd graphics card, is that my problem? (id try for myself but im on holiday in sunny devon at the mo and i just had this brainwave)

if ure other videos work from the camera and One video does. It may just be that video file is faulty.

Or if it happens to all of em then yeh could be the drivers/ codec of ure video player/

Download VLC

Not got the drift but from what I see from its specifications it records in .MOV (H.264), a standard format that VLC should have no trouble decoding. Are you changing the file names and not putting the correct file extension on the end?

Do the files play back ok on the drift?

If they play back OK on the drift then it sounds like an error while copying or maybe the above file name problem?

I had the same problem with my GoPro, check what your memory card is and what class. I emailed GoPro and they told me that to write to the card the best in 60fps or below use a class 4 card.

See what Drift have to say.

I emailed them and they recommend a class 4 card. I will give it a whirl.

All of this is pretty sound advice. With HD video, Class 4 is the minimum (we only go as low as class 6) so it can read/write the data fast enough.

If your other videos play back fine, it could maybe be that just the one was corrupted. If the camera runs out of batteries or turns off suddenly for any reason, it wont 'wrap' the file properly and it wont be able to playback.

SDHC has more capacity, so they should be sold at 4gb and above. Check the size your camera can support. As for Class I would recommend Class 6 or above and a good brand, don't be fooled into buying a cheap brand.

I know its tempting and the prices vary a lot but the cheaper brands tend to fail and there be nothing like doing a days shooting and coming home to find corrupted data because you bought a cheap bit of kit.

Brand I always use is sandisk ( http://www.mymemory.co.uk/search?search ... hc+class+6 ).

I've just bought a 16gb SanDisk card.

Have been out on the bike today and managed to record 2 videos (the rest were invalid files) but they dont work now either lol.

Thank you to everyone for your help. The new memory card has sorted the problem (so far!) I'll see if I can sort out a video to upload at the weekend. I'll be out on Sunday with some friends but I still feel a complete cheese with the camera stuck to my helmet so I may not get round to it.
