Drift Ghost Microphone Click/Crackle?

Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone was noticing a click or crackle from their drift mic?
For a long time it has bugged me but today I finally figured out the problem.
I've owned 2 Drift Mics and had it with both of them.

The problem is caused by a tiny 1mm freeplay in the microphone head. When I talk I tend to move my head a bit. This caused the mic cable to push and pull the mic causing the clicks.

My solution was to put a tiny bit of insulation tape between the mic cap and the mic.
After screwing the cap back on there was no play.

Depending on your mic setup this might not affect you, but with my setup with the mic being fed under my chin it solved the issue.

Good info mate, very helpful, I have had funny clicks that weren't electronic.

Damn! You can't sub yourself either??

Sorry, maybe I never explained it properly. The clicks are not electronic. It's caused by the actual mic sensor freely moving up and down inside the mic case.

If you watch and listen closely to the first clip in this video you'll see that when I move my head you can hear it.

No, lol - you explained perfect mate, maybe I didn't. I understand and it's useful because the clicks I have heard WEREN'T electronic :D

Sorry to dig up an old thread, but I think I am experiencing this issue. I changed my mic position and in my most recent video I noticed crackling, whereas older videos never had it. I'll give this a try and see if it helps.

Thanks you sharing.

I've never had any issues with my Drift mic, but seeing this thread is gonna make me paranoid now lmao. Maybe if it isn't so frequent I could edit the noise out (if it ever does occur.. Hypothetically..)
