Finally figured out how to upload to Youtube from PowerDirector 13 after failing twice. Pretty simple really.
When you produce your video make sure you select Standard 2d
Select H.264 AVC NOT AVI
Select MP4 below that
Select Quality from Profile name/Quality menu at minimum 1280 x 720p
click Start and Produce the video
Now when you upload it you will get HD by default
