Cleaning...

OK I clean my bike once a... erm well can't remember when I last did it.

Now it needs a very deep clean but one of the things I want to do is clean the down pipes (stainless steal before you ask) anyone got a product that helps clean a couple of years worth of gunk off without eroding the pipes ;) Must not be too costly!

As for the rest has anyone used the wash and polish in one go stuff does it work?

Yea basic questions buy hey Im on a very tight budget!

Soap, water once a year if she is lucky. I like my bike like I like my Wife filthy. I do however ACF50 my bike once i have cleaned her for the winter.

Autosol and use a long rag wrapped about the pipe 1.5 times and use that to clean it. Some touring bike riders say stockings work well. They also recommend taking the woman out the stockings first.

Quick jet wash to get loose dirt and grime off...don't bother with shampoos ect as dry cleaning the bike produces so much better results for me.
I degrease everything with just plain old engine degreaser (chain, sprockets, foot rests, wheels ect..) then go over the whole bike with Miracle shine and then Miracle Black Gloss (cos I have a black bike) there is not a single part of the bike these lot don't clean really well. Not sure about the inside of the pipes though as have never done it. For about a day she looks lovely and shiny...

Best cleaner is window cleaner with vinegar

spray the crap out of the bike, wipe off the dirt and spray again and wipe over with a cloth.... Shine and smile

Certainly sounds like a cheaper alternative to my collection of cleaners.... don't you get mobbed by seagulls thinking your a fish and chip van though ? :p

This is kinda how I operate with my cars and bikes.

Its rare for me to leave the house with the bike being dirty. Meaning it gets a wipe over between each ride. Really only have to wash it when its real dirty that way.

Good coat of wax is my secret to success.

I wipe it down with warm soapy water whenever I have the fairings off and wax it a couple of times a year. I really don't ride it in the rain or snow, so it's just a matter of removing road grime. I also take the clutch cover off and use a compressor to blow it out, then clean off the face. One benefit to having a dry clutch is easy cleaning.

I find the Muc-off stuff to be good. However I use Autoglym tfr with the power washer it gets rid of everything, then cover the bike with Muc-off bike protection if you can't get that WD40 will do, its great for getting through the winter.I like to keep my bikes spotless!! When I sold my 99 fireblade it looked like it had just come of the production line.
