Channel Name

Hey Guys,

When I setup my channel I could not think of a name, thus NoNameMoto which I am ok with.

I have been thinking lately, should I just have used my name.

Just wondered if you guys that don't use your name have any thoughts on why one is better than the other.

I guess my current name shows what the channel is about but is using your name better and if I was to change, would it be better to do it early on the journey?

I don't know, can't decide :)

I don't want my full name out there... and I had already created a channel related to my blog site, so I just stuck with that. Like you, I had a hard time coming up with a channel name... so I just left it as-is.

In the long run, I don't think it really matters. I know some big photographers like David Manning and Peter McKinnon use their names because their business IS photography... we're just hobbyists.

Shadetree Surgeon, Professional Monkey, etc., don't use their real names, and neither one has Moto or a bike in the channel name, so I REALLY don't think it matters.

Yeah, that was my thought when I chose the name.I did not really want my name out there, also creates a separation from my professional
Life.

There was definitely a period of motovloggers not wanting their names attached to channels for ID and law enforcement reasons. You are much easier to find if you put it out there and much easier to get into trouble too.

I genuinely didn't know where my channel was going to go (nowhere apparently) but I figured using my real name was more likely to attract trouble than using a random name.

Since starting the channel two or three others have outed my name of live streams and in videos, and I guess that's the risk you take when mingling with other youtubers/motovloggers, just like showing numberplates and such.

So far nothing bad has happened though, which I presume means I'm just not a big enough channel yet.

Thanks all for the reply’s, I was just thinking as a couple guys I follow up used their name and there channels have done very well in a short time (Jack Brock) for example,10k subs in like 4 months which got me thinking. But actually I think I agree that I prefer to keep my full identity a secrete for now
