Camera Rigging

What are some of your rigs that you guys have come up with for different angles?

I didn't quite like the stem/helmet mount on the pedal bike(s) so I did some erector set work and came up with this, not sure how stable/vibration free it will be but only time will tell. Bike is made to do a bit of offroad as well so could be interesting!

This is the roll bar mount with some extra bits to get it at the right height. The 3550 mile long cable is wrapped in velcro straps then stuck to the back of the gopro case (velcro on the back as well) and one zip tie to rule them all! errr to keep everything together

Update, worked decent on the road, I really like this view. Off road, no way, camera was all over the place. Using the "frame" case may have helped

Might turn this one sideways with a lot less extension

ive hybridised some of the go pro mounts to fit my drift ghost.. (well actually i got into the mounts with a chisel/file and sandpaper) .. and yes i know there are adaptors... but i didnt have one at the time... had to wait a couple weeks for overseas shipping... and wanted it done NOW!!! .. so i just got a $20 grab bag of go pro stuff and started 'crafting'

your setup... i didnt use that many!! .. but even with half the elbows .. the front fairing mount (just above and left of headlight) vibrated a lot!! ... but i am using the Ghost vs a Hero so weight is different too...

any mount that is on the bike is going to vibrate more anyway!! nature of the beast .. and if you increase the length of mount then the vibrations will magnify! .. unless you had a steadycam rig or inertial damper unit .. .... you could go redneck and try a couple zip ties foward and aft down to the frame tube to try damp the movement?? but i dont know how much it would work... just a thought...

this and Lurch's drift remote thread have reminded me... i need to update my old thread on my helmet rig and fairing mounts... plus work out how the hell to damp down the drift OEM mount rattle.... its pot luck!! .. some are tight and great ... others let the camera shake around like a charity collectors tin!! o_O

edit... just in case you wanted a laugh at my handiwork! ;)

damn... ran out of edit time.. @dandoolittle .. can we extend the time a little.. please??.. sometimes i remember a minor point that is best in the orig post not an addon!

anyway... in that thread of mine.. the bottom photo.... is the one i use for the front fairing mount ... vibrated like a bastard!

Need something changing?

Yeah ... Edit time .. Runs out after 5 mins from orig post? ... Little more time maybe?

I spose it's there for a reason but ... A few times I have done/started an edit within the 5min limit ... Then thought of more stuff to put in as I am editing.... Then once I actually post the edited version it won't let me cos 'time expired' ... Lost 3 paragraphs last month that was pertinent to what I was saying... And couldn't quite get the same thought process going again for a fresh post...

Then again if I couldn't remember it exactly again maybe it wasn't that great... But it was friggin annoying...

A thought ... IF an edit is started within 5 mins... Can that be counted as allowable? .. Even if it took 10 mins to finish the edit? (Sometime looking for pics or vids to explain something better)

The real pisser is that when it says no , not allowed, time expired .... The text you edited in is gone!

Havent used it since, but now you're making me think about a stabilizer for mountain biking! The zip tie was a bit much I found using one of the woman's hair ties worked much better :D
