Biggest Fear on a Bike

Looking like a tit by doing something daft, ending up om my arse eg while filtering, and then every previously jealous cager I have passed gawking and giggling as they crawl back past my stricken steed. Oh, the shame! lol

Having a child run out in front of me. They're so small, they can appear from out of seemingly nowhere. I talked to a guy before that had hit a child with his bike. He was absolutely destroyed by it, even teared up talking about it after something like 15 years. The child didn't even die, went on to make a full recovery from a broken leg and some serious head trauma. He described watching the small body skid down the road in front of him as the single most horrifying thing he had ever witnessed. Hasn't rode since. He hadn't become anti-motorcycle or anything like that, just said that there was as much chance in hitting someone with his car, but that he was much more cautious in a car and trusted the brakes better.

Definitely a high-speed low side. I love going through the mountains and canyons locally, but the roads arent the best. And I don't trust my tires at all. I've gotten a far lean and feel the back getting squirly because the tire doesn't stick that well.

After that... cagers, dropping a wheelie (never really done a wheelie because of that fear), and getting t-boned... again. Once you have had that happen and almost kill you, fear anything on a side road that looks like its not going to stop/moving at all.

Hmm thinking.... If you don't trust your tyres that much... Time for new tyres!!! ... No matter how worn/fresh they are ... You gotta be able to trust the gear!!

My biggest fear so far is when going on a nice country side ride and seeing the reserve light flashing for 30 miles and no petrol station... or even worst finding a petrol station in a middle of nowhere while having a weak or no mobile phone signal and hoping that my card gets accepted...

You shouldn't be using your at a petrol station

I really should check back here more often :P Having the front wheel come from underneath me whilst braking or cornering has to be my biggest fear, despite the fact that I'm not even on a motorcycle yet. I had one experience on a pushbike, braking and hitting black ice on a dark road, with a national express coach coming in the other direction, closest to death I have ever been, and it's scared the shit out of me since.

I'm probably completely mad in that its not stopping me getting a motorcycle. *rolls eyes*

I've already been hit by a car and it's definitely not fun, but a bigger fear would to be run over by the car after falling off or never being able to walk again.

There is a time between when something goes horribly wrong and the impact where you get to think all sorts of things. For me, it's is "Shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit".
