Battery Swap Over

Afternoon All

Another noob question for you good people to mull over and laugh at :)

when out vlogging/filming and you run your battery flat, when swapping over to new battery. Do you start your sync process over again i.e. camera on, audio recorder running and then clap/beep and away you go.

or is it a matter of swap out battery and start recording and match this up in pot?

Sorry if A) this is a daft question and B) its in the wrong section.

TIA
Dan

YES - to reiterate what HippoDrone said, start the sync process over again. Otherwise, you're just adding a headache when trying to sync them up [at least, it gives ME a headache trying to sync].

FWIW, If you're using an editor that allows multicam clips, you just create one for each part of your ride, delineated by the sync clap method or whatever you're using, and then you can drag them all into your timeline, one after another, clip out the sync process, and the footage keeps going. This is what I do, and it's pretty efficient and repeatedly works well.

You're welcome. After making the mistake of trying to start recording at highway speeds and syncing it up in the editor, just once, I have taken a solemn vow to never try that shenanigan again.

I record audio on the camera and have a remote that syncs all my cameras with a second of each other. If one battery runs out faster than the others then no problem. Just shut down all cameras with the remote when I stop to swap put the battery and refresh that batteries for the others.

Then power on and when the remote shows the correct number of cameras - press record.

Yep, that's a good solution - it at least gets you close to synced up. As Dewey pointed out to me in a DM the other day, it's more important that my A/V are synced because of my half helmet - you can see me speaking, so any frames one way or the other and you KNOW it's out of sync.

Yeah, lips and voice out of sync reminds me of the old badly dubbed kungfu movies.

Haha, yeah, the line to comes to mind is, "Godzilla is attacking the city!" ... but seriously, I can't stand when A/V are out of sync, it drives me nuts.

Well I attempted a vlog today and what a disaster in not so sunny Yorkshire.

Forecast changed rapidly, so got stuck in a down poor, to only find out my chesty position was total cack and my audio well that was worse lol.

I suppose it's a good excuse for another ride out this coming week.

Indeed, it can initially take several trials, till you find something you're happy with. All the better when you get there and can start vlogging about serious stuff and concentrate on the message rather than the technical details ;)

Speak for yourself! Since I have absolutely dick-all going on in life ATM, all my vlogs are about YouTube, being a vlogger, and doing testing... and I've been at this almost a year, LOL!

Gosh, I need to get a life.

@Drakhen99 I would like to, but I must admit, I just finished editing a video about testing a camera :p

OK good, I'm not alone.

You know, it just dawned on me that a lot of motovloggers, and I'm speaking about myself but trying to make it look like there's a whole group, post a ton of videos about new gear they [I mean I] bought, testing it on their [my] rigs, and talking about their [my] results, just to have something to talk about to their [my] camera during a motorcycle ride.
