I put together a little video to help all the people who have asked me, and those who want to get into Motovlogs. Let me know if it helps you at all.

I use the sock trick plus elastic bands myself.

If you get movement noise from your mic being in the cheek pad then your helmet is way too big. Talking shouldn't move your pads at all.

If your pads are too tight that's not a good sign either. Your head/face should have "minimal" movement, but not so tight it can not move. Also every single helmet is designed differently from shell to pads, and every head & face are different. Your head might fit snug in your helmet, and someone with similar measurements might fit tighter/looser in some spots. So yes, MIC noise is 100$% possible, and does happen, regardless of fit. There is no one size fits all to placement, or sound issues.

I usually put my Sony ECM CS3 at the height of my eye on the side of my helmet. It doesnt pickup much wind noise, but it does get the sound of my bike and my voice which is what im going for :) there are a few videos of mine where you can see the mic in the side of the helmet
