Basic Go Pro?

I am picking up a Go Pro Hero Basic and need some tips on what mic to use and such. I need the case to stay almost completely waterproof because I won't be normal motovlogging. I will be doing snowboarding vlogs and atv vlogs. So I need some Ideas on how to mount it, mics and more! Please let me know how this camera will be and maybe some tips?

Do you mean the $130 GoPro? It won't take an external mic, you'd need an external voice recorder like a Zoom.

If you're short on cash and need to go that route... I would buy a Drift HD mic. 19.99 on amazon and plugs into a 3.5mm port, so you can plug into a smartphone and just download a recording app. Then you can just overlay the audio in the free gopro studios software. But I would advise buying a gopro hero 3 white. or just get a drift hd.

id avoid that gopro tbh,
the camera is part of the casing, so you break something on the casing, the camera is useless
no changeable battery
no ext mic

rather get a drift or second hand gopro 3

don't short yourself on a camera. Save up if you have to, If you want to make youtube videos and gain subscribers get a good camera. No one wants to watch bad videos

The GoPro Hero 2014 base model is a fantastic camera so he does have that.

He just needs to carefully choose his audio solution to match.

Well either I get the gopro hero 2014. or I wait a couple weeks and see if my friend is getting rid of his, He dives and just bought the new hero 4 and might sell me his 3 cheap :D

Just in case your friend hangs on to his GoPro.....

I'm using an SJCam SJ4000, which is essentially a basic Go Pro, but still has a removable battery, separate waterproof case and and loads of mounts.

They come in at about £60, and I'm perfectly happy with the video quality (I use a separate voice recorder)

buy cheap buy twice :) I'd rather spend more. or try second hand.

the whole advice here about using a secondary solution for audio recording. he will still have to sync it all. and EVERY time. i ve used voice recorders and 2 cams at once. but its so much extra work :) i d rather have 1 cam to start with before i start that kind of game

Get at least a HD3, I love mine. Just get the mic adapter for a lav mic and it pretty much does the rest.
