Bad Customer Service

NF Vulcan

Never Hold In A Fart
I recently had some work done to my Vulcan 1600. (Oil Change, tire issue). When I took my bike to the shop, they were very cordial and polite.

My tire issue was the reason that I was in there in the first place. I had a slow leak in my front tire. I know it wasn't punctured. They sprayed it with soapy water (I didn't think to do that) and found that it a bead leak. I thought, 'cool, a free and easy fix'. So I left it with them and asked them to change the oil while they had it. No problem.

The next day they called me to tell me its done and ready, and I told them I'd be later that day to pick it up, and they said "no problem, see you then". So later that day, I go to pick it up. Its around 12:30pm, lunch time, I show up and enter the shop. There are 2 sales people at the desk, one is on the phone with another customer, and the other is looking at paperwork. I am not greeted which isn't really an issue, but when I greet him, he just looks up at me, and then back down at his paperwork. Whatever, no big deal. I say "I had some service done and ill just go back to the service desk". The paperwork guy just spouts out, "He's not here, he's at lunch". I say, "Oh, ok" and then wait for the guy to help me. he just keeps looking at his paperwork and doesn't say a thing. So, i get flustered and throw my hands up and start to leave. The paperwork guy says, "can I help you with something?" I'm like duh dipstick, I wanted to pick up my bike, but I just say "I wanted my bike but I guess ill come back later". Then I head to the door and he says something else but I was too pissed to acknowledge it.

Later that day, I come back after calling to make sure the service guy is there. I walk in and skip right past the sales desk and head to the service desk. That guy seemed like he was trying to rush me out too. So I pay for my service and they bring my bike around and I load it up. The mechanic was a nice guy and helped me strap my bike down.

I'm looking at the service ticket and I see that I had to pay to have my tire re-beaded. Was it their mistake that my tire didn't have a good bead seal? I'm not sure on that but if it was their product that failed, I don't think I should have to pay for the repair. Overall, I am not happy with the company and will not be taking my business there, nor will I recommend them to ANYONE.

If I was in the market for a new bike, and I went to their business and was greeted like so, I would have let them know that I will be taking my business elsewhere... What do you all think? Was what I explained bad customer service? Should I have to pay for the re-beading of my tire that they put on? Would you continue to do business with this company?

The business was MotoPlex, located in Norfolk, Nebraska USA. https://www.motoplexofnorfolk.com/

I think if you came to me after 3 months with a leaky tire I’m not sure I’d do it for free. After 3 days for sure maybe even 3 weeks but 3 months I think you could be pudding your luck.

As for a shitty sales person. There sales people there all kinda shit just don’t buy a bike from that guy.

regardless of the leaky tire, im just unhappy with the whole situation. I wont be giving them my business. one thing lead to another. if it was just one issue then it wouldnt have set me off as much as it did.

I see an USA flag on your profile, so I see why you take this as a bad customer service. Over here I would not even notice something like that. I am rater annoyed with the overly polite, ass kissing like service, that USA style restaurants have brought here. Also I don't like the "keep smiling" fake expressions. When you smile naturally, it actually means something. Probably just a matter of personal preference. I do sound like a grumpy old man with this post

Dealers don't act that way here at all but I can tell you for sure if I show up to pick my bike up I'd get it right then. I'm not waiting for someone else's convenience.

I do agree with the charge for the leaky tire though I mean 3 months later I'd charge someone too if I owned a shop.

At walmart, I wouldn't care about the attitude of the workers. at a small shop who is not a corporation, I think its more of an appreciation of the business that the customer brings rather than a fake expression. I know that most of the small businesses that I go to don't give fake expressions but rather are happy that you stopped in to their store to give them business. However, I do accept that different countries and cultures have different business styles. I have visited a few countries in my Army career and do see different styles. But these were average US people, as far as im aware.

I appreciate the input on the tire repair, I don't know about that stuff. I was just mostly upset that the guy didn't want to take my business. oh well, they wont have to worry about me anymore.

The inattentive employees are a problem. You may want to drop a line to the owner.

As far folks rushing you along, that is suspicious because it could be too easy to gloss over something like an ding or scratch from a butter fingered mechanic dropping something.

You are right to be miffed. Glad you got the tire figured out. I hope that all it really was.

As far as I can tell, there was no new character to my Charlotte and the tire has remained at nominal pressure. for now. so im just hoping that they were planning on getting off early at the expense of giving a customer a good experience. Oh well. Now i know not to go there.
