You might want to use the preview option just to be sure it translates correctly. You wouldn't want people send cripples of random things like shoelaces, beetles, or used tissues.

I wonder if that will also be made available for older videos, or only new ones, as they get uploaded?
I thought making the subtitles myself would help the auto translate feature, and get me wider audience, but I recently watched one of my own videos with the auto translate, out of curiosity, and it seems to me, the translation still uses the automatically generated quite faulty subtitles, as a reference.

I would imagine they'll do it in tiers: newest videos first, then more popular ones, and finally... everything else. That's how I'd roll it out, anyway.

As @Theodor says.....watch your own videos with subtitles on.
You'd be surprised at how bad it is. Now imagine the wrong words being translated.
