Audio recorder suggestions

Hey all,

My Olympus DM550 (12 years old now) has started to flake out, so I need a replacement. Audio gain goes to full randomly when it wants so something wrong with the circuitry that controls it all :(

I use it for all my audio, on the bike, on the camera, everything so I need something that uses rechargeable batteries, was Tascam DR-05 was my next one but seems it only uses Alkalines? I have over 1000 hours of audio recorded with this Olympus so i'm not keen on something that needs new batteries every other week!

Anything else I should look at?

I have a Zoom H4N audio recorder that I use if I’m riding 2-up. It uses batteries, as well as rechargeagle ones but has a stamina mode so they tend to last a while.

“The H4n requires just 2 AA batteries—either alkaline or rechargeable NiMH. Battery life when using alkaline batteries is more than 20 hours, even during continuous recording. Alternatively, you can use an optional AD-17 AC adapter, which allows you to power the H4n from any standard wall socket.”

I have a Tascam though I have not used it in a while. When I did, it worked pretty well.
