Anyone Here Doing Track Days?

Anyone here doing track days? I'll be doing a couple a month this year. Shoot me a message of you're doing on

Im thinking about doing one, but as I don't have a bike suitable for a track, nor leathers or an ACU approved lid, I'm thinking of trying Ron Haslem school as everything is supplied. They do sessions on CB500s, 600RRs and Fireblades. Half tempted to try the 500 and 600, one to race and one as it's a "normal" bike just for the experience.

ACU approved lid

YOu just need the BMS sticker which to my knowledge is a legal thing in the UK

Two piece that zip together are fine

Ron Haslem school

I'm doing that in June and I can get you a discount if you wanted to pay them £50 and the rest on the day

Mine doesn't have that sticker either :)

And I've only got textiles being a touring rider :(

Where you doing it Dan? Donington Park?

I did some indoor supermoto on kart tracks in the winter. Not sure if there's something similar down here.

Donington is my nearest. Do you have to pick a day when you lay the £50 or can you decide nearer the time?

My girlfriend bought me a voucher for a trackday this year, and I think Donnington is my nearest too (Live near Stoke.). My only concern with organising one though, is doing it too far in advance, then it chucking it down with rain on the day!

I hope to get back on track when I can... This is my first season racing on 4 wheels, so the budget might not allow it for a while, though... Although I am still toying with the idea of getting my bike race license as well...

When I first did track days I rode to the track and paid to hire bikes. It's good not having to worry too much about binning it, and you literally just jump on and ride and the bike is perfect. Well worth the money, but it is a lot of money on top of the day.

Personally, I think it's pretty hard to come a cropper on a track day. Just stay inside your limits and push slowly to the edge if you want more. It really is a lot safer than you can possibly imagine, and a lot more fun!

Dan - get theeself to Oulton Park! It's easily my favourite track! :D

I'm still kicking myself for only doing my first trackday after I'd been riding for around 10 years... What a waste!

I did the ron haslam a couple of months ago and whilst it was fun to ride the 600rr's I came a way a bit disappointed. You literally get 4 x 15 minute sessions on the track...even though your there for over half a day. You spend half your track time pulling over to the side to let the faster riders through and the other half blindly following the instructor...just when you are getting to remember the specific corners and what you need to do to keep your speed and line ect... its time to come off again. You don't really get to much feed back from the instructors either, only that "You're doing well".
My next track sessions (although I am still a novice will be one where I can get on the track and and spend some decent time practicing and gaining cornering skills.
I am thinking about doing the California Superbike school next. Let you know how that goes later...
