Alternatives to the Drift Mic (Ghost-S)

Hey guys, wondering about some alternatives to the drift mic as I'm not 100% happy with the results I'm getting at the moment. (Although I could just be being overly picky).

I've seen quite a few brands/models thrown around on this forum but it would be good to get a list of reviews perhaps to help out newbies. Would certainly save me some cash buying/trying.

My bike/helmet is pretty windy and I ride at various speeds during a single vlog between 50-140Km/h which makes editing out wind noise pretty tricky. I'm thinking noise cancelling but not sure if it will work that effectively.

Also stereo mics, is there much point? Can the ghost-s even record in stereo?

From what I recall, the Ghost cameras all have mono mic jacks. Although, if someone has determined otherwise, I would be interested to know this as well.

Where do you have the mic placed in the helmet?

Tried behind the cheek pad, was too muffled and just picked up more wind noise from the outside of the helmet.

Presently its wrapped around my scala mic in the chin bar section of the helmet. It seems to be the best place for noise/recognition that I could find.

I just use a cheap Fleabay mic, positioned in my cheek pad. It is a little bit muffled, but at least cuts back on wind noise

Just play with the mic position/wind cut materials/foams/dead cats and stuff.
There are no "bad" mics.
My mic was the worst on the first vlogs and after playing with it and moving it around the helmet (also adding foam) now I get decent audio.
And it isn't even a proper mic, is a hackjob from some phone headset.

ok i have the same set up, ghost mic, scala headset. What i did was to grab the bigger mic foam that came in the scala box and pull it over the ghost mic foam. so its the big extra scala foam over the ghost mic foam and its all taped together infront of my mouth (HJC full face) worked perfect for me on my first try yesterday. I can't post video yet but search for me on youtube to see the sound quality at 30/60/90 mph. Florida outdoor adventures " helmet cam and mic test 1st motovlog part 1 "

I had the exact opposite effect. Everywhere but the cheek pad picked up tons of wind noise. Just keep trying all different places... you'll find the sweet spot!

I have the drift ghost s camera with an external microphone from drift.
The sound of my voice is good but i can barely hear the exhaust! :(
And its a loud exhaust sound(!) but not on the camera?
I've putted the microphone on to the chin pad and the micsetting is at 1, how do you guy's do it?

to cancel out the wind its all about what you use around your mic end, i have the drift mic with the drift boom and got rid of almost all the wind noise up to about 60 mph then i moved it and cut it into the cheek pad i dont really like that as much, im gonna go and see if i can get a thicker boom or maybe cut some cushion out of a couch or something

I'm using a cheap mic from Amazon, a dead cat windshield put on top of it, then placed it inside the cheek pad and then sewed a sleeve for the cheek pad out of furry fabric. I've sent you some details on your Youtube channel since I'm not allowed to post links here.
