Action Cam Without Case?

Just curious if anyone continuously motovlogs/rides around without a protective case on their camera (like the waterproof case)? I've had some annoyingly big bugs slam into my helmet shield, and dirt, rain, etc, so I always assumed it's best to use a protective case to protect the camera lens. I thought I saw some people riding around without a case, but after thinking about it, maybe it's just the newer action cams are built weatherproof. I guess either way, it's got me curious to know if anyone rides with "bare camera" , was there eventually any damage to the camera/lens, etc? Any benefits?

I guess I would fall into the "bare camera" category. Its a drift and while they do make protective cases for it, the camera itself is durable enough.

I will always use the case on my GoPro. Had the camera come off while riding once. It faired well, however would not have done well if it did not have the protective case.

Some have a bare/skeleton case but still has a lens cover.. It just makes sense to protect the lens with a removable cover, in case anything hits it, the lens is not damage and you can get replace the cover/protector.

I use a drift ghost s and a drift stealth 2, both made very durable, and the ghost s is water proof to 3m. love em
