Hey guys,

So I started my DAS saturday and things where going pretty good. Yesterday was the mod1 at silverstone when we was meeting ready to set off it was hammering it down. My instructor was debating if it was worth making our way over there incase it was too poor conditions to do the test with the wind howling and the rain ect. We decided that we would give it a shot anyway and begun our way over. just as we was almost there we was coming down the road I was leading, then, I cocked right up. I had to slow down pretty quick for a what was happening up ahead and rather then just throttling off and pulling the front break, I half panicked and hit the back break too. The back wheel locked and before I could even take my foot off it the bike slid and I was off. Hit the ground pretty hard on my shoulder and head, bounced along the road. I couldnt believe it I felt such a tool, soon as I stopped rolling I got up went straight across to the bike and we got it off the road.

After a quick inspection the only damage turned out to be a bent mirror scuffed crash bar and bar end. a qiuck "are you alright, not hurt or anything?" ect we carried on to the test centre. where I began apologising like mad. He was alright about it and just said "dont worry about it, it happens from time to time, you're not the first student have that happen to them on that stretch of road and that Bikes can be fixed and repaired but skin and bones will take longer, as long as you are alright thats the main thing".

At least thats what he said to me, if he went home and said any different I don't know and all I end up with is a bit of a sore shoulder this morning, aswell as feeling like a complete and utter idiot.

well glad you're ok, and he's right, it happens, especially given the weather. If on top of that you were new to the bike, it's just a bad mix. Still, no reason to give up :P I'm sure you'll do better next time =)

glad your allmight mate and congrats on passing just shows your good if you can have a spill and still smash it =] test bikes are sturdy what bike was it normally they have engine bars and crash bungs because it happens quite alot =]

thought it would be a gs or cb 500 there bullet proof bikes you could probably ride them into the sea of a cliff and they would still work once you drag it out haha

Yea as others said don't worry about it, a female rider went down heavy on the test track while I was there and the instructor was right in there helping her up etc etc. It happens and they are used to it and will have a nervous chuckle about it as you do now but they wont be annoyed or think of you any worse.

What gets me is you passed the test! Thats just awesome, I would be a bag of nerves!

Grats!

Cheers guys,

My first thought was more to do with how the bike was and getting it off the road then it was on me. soon as we gave the bike a once over I didnt think twice about jumping back on and carrying on. I was only a little bit worried about the emergancy stop after that incase I repeated but no problems there.

now all I need to do is get through mod 2..

Lol. Sorry shouldn't laugh but it reminded me of my test day. Dropped the bike right outside the test center.

I nailed it as well.

Might be an omen thing. Well done

Glad you're okay and congrats on passing your Mod1.

Always better to trash their bike and not your own :)
