6 Months How Many Subs?

Took me over 2 years to reach 100. Then I got 7 in the space of 2 days but over the weekend just gone I lost 2!

It is all about the view count though I keep telling myself. I'm averaging beteen 40-60 on most of my recent vids yet according to youtube analysis most views are from non-subscribers.

1,5 years of putting out videos, 13 subs.

But I must admit that I'm terrible at self-promotion. And it seems that I do get more regular views and I try to post one video per week, that certainly helps.

The other day I was watching a video that featured 5 YouTube creators and after a while of them talking about creating for the logarithm and then for your audience retention, I began to be concerned.

I don't want to be, for lack of a better term, a "sub-whore". I want to capture what I feel and what sticks out in my mind when I ride and experience in motorcycling. No hype. No click bait. I want to avoid what happened when the public media was documenting the custom bike builders here in the US. It went from educational to edutainment to soap opera to trash bin.

Anyone else share that worry?

I used to be worried about sub count and views but I don't really care all that much any more.

I'm just putting videos out when they are done with content that I feel is good enough and interesting enough. If the content is good then subs and views will come. Self promotion does help though. Post in forums, Facebook, Reddit etc.

Started at the end of May 2016 and as of today I have 270 subs. Most of my vids get 150 views in a few days. I would say the one thing that led to my "success" is consistency. I publish a new video every Wednesday and Saturday. I hype that fact on my channel art, my intro art, and anywhere else I can find. Then I have a track record of doing that for a few months. So people know I'm not some unreliable vlogger that will only post every now and then. If they enjoy my content, then they know they can see something new 2 times a week....without fail.

I release one video a week and even thats a push sometimes with work and other things. Honestly think I would struggle to come up with decent content if I was releasing twice a week.

I heard that Youtube's algorithms kinda screws over the once-per-week creators a bit. Which, kinda makes sense as (my guess) someone able to output stuff twice per week are more serious and dedicated. Resulting in better content and more ad revenue. That said, it still screws over a lot of decent vloggers who is too busy to post twice a week.

If you want to compare against different kinds of channels, then yttalk is a good place. They also got a milestone thread.

I have personally received only 1 sub so far, but i am up to almost 1k views in total. My first video is 2 years old though, but i have just started with promotion a month ago.

Im at 16, started vlogging a month ago something, some vids without mic befor that in the summer.
Still need to get better flow in my videos and editing but trying to put out 1 longer and one small each week =)

Ordered myself some hoodies for self promotion with logo and name etc, gonna do some t-shirts too later and hand out to friends who ride.

My family and friends are all getting promotion clothing and baby stuff with my logo on this christmas :D

I'm at 16 subs and I've been at it for a few months. Although I have a video I posted from like 2 years ago on my page haha

Thats absolutely normal i would say. I´ve made about 117 in one Year. But my audience is just from Germany, Austria or Swiss. Maybe i should make a english section too!?!
