all you need is 40 hours and you can easly cover that in a week

you can do 2-6 day courses including test fees etc, talk to your local motorcycle school and see what they suggest. prices range from about £200-£700 depending what course you do. you can just do the test without any training but if your new to riding etc it's probably best to do a course.
I will be doing a 5 day course after i pass theory test next week.
So talk to your local motorcycle school and see what they say. ask around etc.

That explains it well. I'll have to do some kind of course as i'm on a 100cc scooter and i don't know how to use the gears/clutch on a geared bike. Would it be achieavable before the new laws kick in as i want to pass it before and get a 600 and restrict it to 33bhp. Thanks female rider

I would do the maximum amount of training that you can afford. Because you say you've only ridden scooters before, the school aren't just training you to take your test, they're going to be teaching you how to ride a geared bike. That said, it only took me half a days training to learn that.

At the end of the day, everyone is different. You might really get on with gears, and pass really quickly, or, you might struggle, and it take two to three days to learn the gears.

For the record, I passed my test with 1 1/2 days training (cost of 280) and 8 months of riding

Yeah i totally understand. I mean they seem really easy to get the hang of, i've seen a few demonstrations on youtube explaining the basics and i think with a little practice i should pick it up. I'm just worried about time, i need to pass before January :lol:

You've got 3 months to do it. depending on how quick you can pick up on the gears etc, i think you have plenty of time to do it. It is possible! Don't worry too much about it. You will be fine i think
